C&D winner has finished well beaten in four starts so far this year and finds himself off a mark 7lb lower than for his most recent victory as a result.
Recorded a victory over 7f on good-to-firm ground here last time out. Raised 4lb for that success and is one to note with cheekpieces worn for the first time that day retained.
Ended last season with a soft ground maiden victory over this trip at Redcar in October. Cheekpieces worn for the first time that day retained for two credible efforts this year including when 3L fifth over 1m at Wetherby (good-to-firm) last time.
In good form on the fibresand at Southwell earlier this year winning twice over 1m. Held in two starts since returning from a break most recently when 5L ninth over 1m at Wetherby (good-to-soft) last month. Has won over C&D in the past.
Ran well to be 1½L second in a 1m handicap at Ayr (good-to-firm) on his penultimate start. Struggled in a soft ground 1m1f contest at Hamilton subsequently however.
Sole victory in 20 career starts came in a soft-to-heavy ground maiden at Gowran Park (1m) in May last year. Finished last of 12 on debut for this yard at Newcastle (7f) in March.
Course winner finished a well beaten seventh in a 1m handicap at Thirsk (good-to-soft) earlier this month. Winner off an 11lb higher mark on the AW in March but probably best watched at present.
Registered a fourth career success when scoring by a neck in a 1m1f handicap on good-to-soft ground here last week. Carries a 6lb penalty for that victory and is one to note down in trip.
Improved on Ayr (1m, good-to-firm) third when winning over an extended 1m on good going at Hamitlon last week. Carries a penalty of 6lb for that success and is stepping up in grade.
Running well in defeat this season including when 3L fourth over an extended 1m2f at York (soft) on Friday. Races off a 2lb lower mark here and has won three times here in the past.
Placed on two of his three starts since joining this yard including when 2L third over 1m2f on the AW at Newcastle earlier this month. Has won off higher marks in the past but best form has come on ground quicker than forecast.
Fair fourth in a 1m1f handicap on good-to-soft ground here last week. Drops in trip here but is probably best watched at present.
Couple of promising efforts over 7f and 1m on the AW at Newcastle in late 2018. Disappointed in two starts at the same venue earlier this year however and others make more appeal on return from a break.
Three time winner here including over this trip on good-to-soft ground in September 2016. Out of form of late however most recently when 5L fourth over 1m1f here at the end of last month.

EDGAR ALLAN POE was a winner last week and he is taken to defy a penalty for that victory to take this competitive handicap. The selection has the trip and ground to suit and he can get the better of fellow last time out winner Redarna who can finish runner-up ahead of Beverley Bullet who is dropping in trip.
