Placed in all three point-to-points before 1L second to a 4/9 chance on rules debut at Tramore last month. That form exceptionally strong and surely means it's a matter of time until he goes one better.

Beaten 27 here on debut in a bumper before finishing fifth of 16 at Kilbeggan when switched to hurdling. Will need to do more here if he's to make the frame although not a forlorn hope.

Pulled up in lone point and before three out on hurdles bow in March so impossible to fancy here.

Last of six at Limerick latest on stable debut after saddle slipped in previous start after remote 10th of 15 on debut Easy to oppose.

Well held on Roscommon debut last month (seventh of 10) and despite likelihood he improves will almost certainly need more time before contending.
€6,000 Y; 10th foal; closely related to winners Illustrious Prince (6f-7.5f inc AW) and Mastoora (7f), half-brother to winners Secret Love (7f 2yo) and Heart In The Air (1m4f AW). Nothing in pedigree suggests he will stay 2m.
Newcomer by crack sire Getaway. Third living foal; dam maiden point winner, half-sister to point winner Five O Venture. Suspect one for further down the line at 3m.

No obvious improvement in seventh of 12 here latest after same position in 22-runner Fairyhouse contest on debut. Shown more than many however so has place claims.
€2,000 3yo; 7th foal; half-brother to point winners Wansbeck Valley and Alright Chief; dam well held bumpers/2m-2m4f hurdles. Little to get excited about pedigree-wise.

Newcomer by Yeats; second foal; dam well beaten in bumpers, half-sister to bumper/2m1f-2m5f hurdle/smart chase winner Little Josh and bumper/2m and 2m4f hurdle winner Miss Toulon. Best watched here.

Famous Name gelding; €6,000 3yo; first foal; dam 2m3f hurdle winner (also placed 1m2f-1m4f Flat), out of French 12.5f winner. Market check advised.
Newcomer by Kalanisi: €5,000 3yo; third foal; dam unraced half-sister to bumper/2m-2m5f hurdle winner Glen Money out of half-sister to Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Miller Hill. Watching brief only here.
Unraced mare by Kalanisi. Eighth foal; sister to bumper winner Tilinisi, half-sister to 2m3f and 3m1f hurdle winner Milans Man and two point winners. Could go well at a price.
Third foal; dam well held 1m/12.5f maidens, half-sister to 1m-1m4f Flat/2m hurdle winner Final Flashback. Went unsold for €11,000 as a foal but worth a cursory market check here.

Third of 14 on debut at Ballinrobe pretty promising and got a good deal closer at Kilbeggan latest despite filling the same position. Third again would be a disappointment as he looks the main danger to Gun Merchant.
By Fame and Glory; ninth foal; half-sister to winners Gentleman Duke (6.5f Flat/2m-2m1f hurdle/chase), Johannisberger (2m-2m4f hurdle/chase) and Rory's Valentine (2m4f hurdle). Worth a watching brief on debut.

Forecasts

Gun Merchant (11/4), Watch Guard (11/4), Judex Lefou (6/1), Good Reception (7/1), Stormy Master (16/1), Rightplacerightime (16/1), Lough Sewdy (16/1), Pisgah Pike (20/1), Lets Get Started (20/1), Vale Of Glory (25/1), Thefluffydiamond (25/1), Mick Mixy (25/1), Miss Petra Ash (40/1), Getaway Some Day (50/1), Famous Escape (50/1), Murray Bridge (50/1), Art Of The Deal (50/1), Mcquinn (100/1)

Having run so well behind a long odds-on fav latest GUN MERCHANT clearly has A1 claims in this weaker race and anything but victory would be a surprise in all honesty. Twice third placed Watch Guard is easily the most viable alternative with twice raced Lough Sewdy potentially good enough to nab third with no debutants particularly appealing on paper.
  1. Gun Merchant
  2. Watch Guard
  3. Lough Sewdy
