£220,000 breeze-up purchase with an appealing pedigree for a trainer who has a good record with his juvenile newcomers at Carlisle (7-24 since 2014). Market likely to provide a good guide to his chance; well drawn if they come stands side.

Strong in the betting on his Ripon 5f debut on quick ground he'll be encountering very different conditions here. Undone by inexperience on his debut (also looked unsuited by track) he's entitled to do better with that experience behind him.

Mr Gus12
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: S P Davis(5)| T: R A Fahey
33/1
One of two runners from a stable that are no stranger to juvenile success but this one looks one of their lesser lights. Appeared to have learnt little from his debut when last seen over 6f here on similar ground; finished well beaten, hard to fancy.

Newcomer from a stable that have had eight first-time out juvenile winners this year (1-3 here). By Pivotal she has an appealing pedigree; sister to smart 7f winner Endless Light and 7f-1m winner Cainhoe Star, half-sister to 3 winners; one to note.

In need of the experience when well beaten over C&D by a debutante stablemate of Classy Moon (Rayong) in a race that looks quite smart. Lost a shoe on that occasion so entitled to come on for the run but needs more to figure at the business end.

Stable not really known for their juvenile winners (0-13 this season) with this one finishing last of eight on her debut over 5f at Leicester. Did try and match strides with the pair who finished 1-2 in that race; will come on for the experience.

Stable 0-31 with two-year-old newcomers since 2014 so not much expected of this half-sister to Italian winner up to 6f Romanian Boy on debut. Best watched on this initial run unless the market unexpectedly signals otherwise.

Yard's juveniles generally need the run (0-10 this year with newcomers; 5% strike-rate since 2014 with debutantes). €48,000 breeze-up purchase last month with a mixed pedigree; yard finding winners hard to come by currently (0-39 last 14 days).

Wafrahp132
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: B A Curtis| T: D O'Meara
11/2
Yard going nicely with their juveniles this year (6-28 so far); this one makes her debut for the yard having had one run for Richard Hughes. Bred to be speedy (by Dark Angel) she was held back by inexperience on her debut; may do better this time.

Forecasts

Classy Moon (7/5), Heavens Open (7/2), Wafrah (11/2), Good Night Mr Tom (13/2), Pearl Stream (10/1), Ventura Flame (14/1), Starfield Song (25/1), Mr Gus (33/1), Prissy Missy (66/1)

17:30 Carlisle - 11 June 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Those with experience were all well beaten on their debuts although some could cite mitigating circumstances and it won’t be a surprise to see contenders like Good Night Mr Tom and Wafrah come on for their initial outings. The newcomers do look more interesting though with Heavens Open representing some powerful connections who have a good record with their newcomers; she makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. CLASSY MOON is the debutante who stands out though as the Karl Burke yard often start their smart juveniles off at this track and have a good record with that type here. This son of Malibu Moon is taken to get off to a winning start.
  1. Classy Moon
  2. Heavens Open
  3. Wafrah
