Yard won with their first juvenile runner of the season but haven't scored since in this sphere. This one showed enough to suggest he was capable of winning something like this on his debut (5f); now steps up to 6f for his return to the track.

Tenderly handled on his Carlisle debut finishing third to a couple ridden with more dash showing real promise for the future. Finished off well; sure to improve with the 6f looking as though it will suit him well especially over this sharper track.

Stable yet to score a juvenile winner this season (0-9); half-brother to three winners all of whom won over 7f plus out of a dam who stayed 2m. Likely to need the run with this 6f trip looking to prove sharp enough; best watched for now.

Shaped nicely on his 5f Hamilton debut only finishing third but not disgraced at all giving best to two with more experience (beaten under 3L). The fourth has come out and won since to give the form some credence; should do better here up to 6f.

Yard going well with their juveniles this year (6-24) with this one well backed to make a winning debut at Ripon (6f). Ultimately too inexperienced to match a promising and more experienced winner; open to more progress after that experience.

50/1
Newcomer by Harbour Watch who has already been gelded (cost £30,000; yearling). Half-brother to two-year-old 5f winner True Hero; dam also a juvenile 5f winner. Yard yet to have a juvenile winner this year (1-78 with juvenile debutantes since 2015).
Fledgling stable who have yet to score in juvenile events (only had one start in single figures). £75,000 yearling by Dandy Man; half-brother to 6f winner Bint Saffan. Some appeal on pedigree and worth watching in the market for a positive move.

Toro Strike16
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey
6/4
Stable no stranger to juvenile winners (9-63; 2019); 33-1 on debut at Newbury (6f, good) but showed a fair level of ability making an encouraging start to his career. Travelled well for a long way, now finds himself in much calmer seas; shortlisted.

Ice Skate14
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby
66/1
Yard have made only a limited impression with juveniles this year (1-38 so far) with this one having had two runs so far. Showed a little more last time at Carlisle (needed the experience on debut); nursery company beckons to offer more.

Horse silk
100/1
Second runner/newcomer in the race for the yard who are 0-51 with juvenile debutantes since 2015. Out of a maiden dam who stayed 7f she's likely to need this first experience on the track; one of the less likely sorts in this.

Forecasts

Toro Strike (6/4), Oso Rapido (5/2), Leapers Wood (6/1), No Mercy (7/1), The Bell Conductor (8/1), Dancinginthesand (20/1), Refuge (50/1), Ice Skate (66/1), My Havana (66/1), Queen Moya (100/1)

14:15 Thirsk - 3 June 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The form of the conditions event at Newbury that TORO STRIKE made his debut in has yet to be really tested but the horse who finished last won next time out and it was a hot race to run in first time up (contained five previous winners). This is much easier despite facing a couple that showed promise last time particularly Leapers Wood who caught the eye staying well at Carlisle over 5f to a couple that had the run of the race; better is expected. No Mercy is another who showed that he had the abillty to win races along with Oso Rapido. Of the four newcomers Phil Makin’s Dandy Man colt The Bell Conductor is worthy of tracking in the market given his taking pedigree.
  1. Toro Strike
  2. Leapers Wood
  3. No Mercy
