2017 Ebor winner. Gets this trip but has yet to win over it. Dual course winner over 1m6f on soft/good to soft, but not ground dependent. Well treated on his best efforts. Tends to improve for a run, so recent reappearance should have him spot on.

Scored over this trip Chelmsford in February, when 7lb lower. Acts on a good/good to firm on turf. Soft ground didn't appear to suit last time in the Chester Cup, but staying on second prior to that at Ripon, when 2lb lower, makes him of interest.

Won this in 2016, when 2lb lower. Has been below par in five starts since winning at Pontefract (1m4f, good to firm) 11-months ago, when 5lb higher. Well treated on that run, which was his third of the season just like this, so can't rule him out.

Trainer/jockey combination won this two years ago with Yorkidding. Stays 2m well and has a 2-25 turf record (both wins on sound/fast surface), but it is now 17 runs and four years since he won on grass, which does not fuel confidence.

Sees out this trip well and acts on the forecast ground. Below par in a Class 3 at Newmarket last time, when beaten over 13L (1m6f, good to firm). Drops 4lb, and has won from higher on AW, but more needed back on turf.

0-6 on turf, having won 3-4 on AW. Yet to win beyond 1m4f in this code (stays 2m over hurdles). Has stamina to prove and more is needed on his return to a track where he has run well previously.

Has won three of her last four starts, all on AW surfaces, to climb 25lb in the handicap. Nothing wrong with how she did the job at Kempton (2m) last time, when upped to this level, but 0-8 on turf, so now has to prove she can reproduce that.

Without a win since his sole success in France in 2015. Returned from well over two years off to show that he retains ability when 5½L third in a Musselburgh Class 3 (1m6f, good to firm) recently. Same mark, stable in form, and interesting.

Won a Doncaster maiden (1m4f, good to firm) last June, but was uncompetitive in a couple of subsequent handicaps. Did better back at that venue on reappearance (1m6f½f). Drops 1lb, steps up in grade, but could go close.

Forecasts

Eden Rose (7/2), Lucky Deal (4/1), Watersmeet (9/2), Nakeeta (9/2), Pirate King (15/2), Busy Street (9/1), My Reward (14/1), Loud And Clear (20/1), Desert Point (22/1), Magellan (22/1)

14:15 Haydock - 25 May 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

An interesting opener. Eden Rose is likely to prove popular with punters given recent form. She may prove up to winning this, but given her previous turf record taking a short price about her carries risks, and preference is for topweight NAKEETA. The former Ebor winner should be better for his reappearance and is well treated on his best efforts. Lucky Deal is also of interest, with My Reward back on a handy mark and a potential danger, and neither Pirate King nor Desert Point ruled out.
