Bumper winner on his second start who took a while to get the hang of jumping hurdles finally finding some fluency over them on his third start to record win at Newton Abbot. Sure to improve for that experience; has to overcome a penalty here.
Newcomer from a powerful yard (cost €40,000 as a three-year-old); first foal of a fair Flat/useful jumps winner. Not given a particularly difficult debut; trainer has a 31% strike-rate with unraced hurdling debutantes of this age.
Has some fair hurdles form to his name but is struggling to get off the mark and turned in a dismal performance when 6-4 market leader at Wetherby last time. Deserves another chance on earlier form but hard not to have doubts given his last start.
Went backwards from his bumper debut which had suggested he might show more in the future on his second start in that sphere. Showed very little on his hurdles debut (well beaten); returns from a long absence with plenty to prove.
Placed in point-to-points (form that looks weak) and ran to a very modest level on a fairly belated hurdles debut at Warwick (2m3f, good/soft) recently. Likely to be of very little interest until gaining a handicap mark.
Eight-year-old who is hooded for his debut; first foal out of a dam who was a maiden hurdler; half-sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Fireball Macnamara. Can only really be watched on debut.

This really only concerns three of the runners with Colditz Castle very much on a recovery mission after disappointing at Wetherby last time over 2m; he’s been tried at this trip before and it may well be the key to him but he does come with risks. Nicky Henderson has a very sound strike-rate with newcomers from this age group and Bold Record has to be respected but BOOMARANG even with his penalty is just preferred. He’s taken a little while to get his jumping together but saw off a well-fancied odds on chance last time and already has an official rating of 129.
