Quick Brewt10
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-12| J: Dale Irving(3)| T: M A Barnes| OR:  99| CD
11/10
Two-time course winner (2m-2m4f); back from a near four month absence when finishing a keeping on third to Civil Unrest over C&D (good) ten-days ago; should take all of the beating if able to build positively on that effort.
2
Horse silk
Roxyfet36
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-4| J: Colm McCormack(3)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  91| D
9/2
Inconsistent, yet capable on his day; strongest at Sedgefield with some cut underfoot; 1lb lower than when finishing 3½L third to the subsequent winner Johnny Yuma over C&D (good) 36-days ago; stablemate of Black Kettle.
3
Horse silk
Black Kettlet,v110
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-13| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  86| D
15/2
Has struggled for form since joining Micky Hammond (who also saddles Roxyfet); now 4lb lower than when winning in an absolute bog at Newcastle (2m) for Rebecca Menzies in April 2018; sports a first-time visor.
4
Horse silk
Goonjimt29
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-0| J: Jamie Bargary| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  71
6/1
Sole win came at Plumpton (2m4f, good to soft) in March 2017; hard to draw any real positives from his latter efforts; difficult to fancy even in such a weak race from just outside of the handicap proper.
5
Horse silk
Gentleman Jamesp,t186
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  67
7/2
15-race maiden who turned in a lousy performance when last seen in competitive action at Newcastle in November 2018; not jump well (150/1) on sole previous start over fences; competes from outside of the handicap proper.

Forecasts

Quick Brew (11/10), Gentleman James (7/2), Roxyfet (9/2), Goonjim (6/1), Black Kettle (15/2)

18:50 Hexham - 21 May 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Realistically, only two of these horses can be considered as possible winners in what can only be described as a desperately weak 2m handicap chase. Roxyfet was placed behind the subsequent winner Johnny Yuma over C&D last month, but a strong preference is for the Maurice Barnes-trained QUICK BREW who posted a solid effort on his return from a near four month break when finishing a keeping on third to the James Ewart-trained Civil Unrest.
  1. Quick Brew
  2. Roxyfet
  3. Black Kettle
