The only course winner in the field (scored in a 7f handicap last year) he did at least show a step back in the right direction last time over C&D (handicap). Fourth in that race he ought to be able to make his presence felt at this level.

Not the most straightforward and running below-par at the moment with the last two starts over further particularly moribund. Likely to find one or two too good for him even at this lowly level.

The losing run continues to grow with 19 starts behind her now and she remains a maiden. Blinkers go on for the first time in a bid to work the oracle having finished last when 100-1 over C&D when last seen.

Now appears to be finding her feet for this yard and she's fared much better off a break with the hood off in her latest two runs. Finally off the mark in a similar contest last time (weak heat) on the AW; needs to reproduce that run back on turf.

You would have to roll the clock back a little to give this one a chance on form with his latest form including in first-time cheekpieces not being good enough. Chances if he springs back to life but that's rather a hope than a judgement.

Poor handicapper whose only win came back in 2017 over 7f on the AW (rated 65 at the time); not worthy off a lofty rating like that now. Well held last time on her first run for this yard after three months off; others mount more persuasive cases.

Just the one win from 21 Flat runs probably tells its own story with her recent form having made very little impact. Sold out of Iain Jardine's yard for 2,000 guineas in May she faces a stiff task at the weights on her yard debut.

Can't be ignored at this level coming from a powerful yard who do well here despite his recent form being of little substance. Makes his turf debut and would be a danger if regaining his form that he showed on his initial run last year.

Back from six months off she ran up to the best of her juvenile form at Yarmouth last time in a 1m handicap. Looked as though she would come on for that run and could still make her mark as a three-year-old; bred to get better with age.

Imperial Act (2/1), Confrerie (9/4), Kahina (7/2), Ahfad (5/1), Jupiter (8/1), Birthday Girl (10/1), Don't Cry About It (12/1), Chance Of Glory (12/1), Kybosh (16/1), Song Of Summer (33/1), Sea Tea Dea (50/1), Following Breeze (66/1)

17:15 Brighton - 21 May 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The fact that KAHINA made an impact in a Yarmouth handicap counts for something here especially as her pedigree suggests that she is the sort to get better with age. The first-time cheekpieces that she wore last time appeared to help her and she should be able to build on that performance at this level. Imperial Act looks a similar sort albeit she’s a year older having found her feet now although she does need to show she can act on turf after winning a weak event last time. Course winner Confrerie must also be respected having run with credit over C&D last time and useful 7lb apprentice Cieren Fallon takes the ride.
