Much improved from his debut here when winning a 7f novice at Newcastle in November. Penalty for that win makes life tougher in what looks a more competitive affair.

Shamardal filly who is the first foal of a Listed winning half-sister to Frankel. Looked a smart prospect when winning a 6f maiden at Chelmsford by 2¾ lengths from Dominus last month, and step up in trip can only suit.

From the family of Eclipse winner Notnowcato, and shaped really well when keeping on into third in a 7f novice at Salisbury last month. Caught the eye there, and looks sure to build on that debut effort.

Not without appeal on paper, and sent off short enough for 7f debut at Wolverhampton last month, but showed very little, and needs to put that behind him.

By Kingman out of a half-sister to July Cup winner Fleeting Spirit. In excellent hands, and bred to be smart, but fitting of tongue tie for debut isn't a great sign.

Has shown a similar level of ability when mid-field in two starts to date, and will be of more interest when qualified for handicaps.

Half-brother to several winners, but his sales price dropped markedly as a yearling, and he was well behind After John when the pair made their respective debuts at Salisbury last month, albeit not persevered with.

Didn't shape too badly when mid-field in soft-ground debut here last season, but failed to beat a rival at Newmarket on subsequent start. Feeling is he'll do better, but handicaps more appealing after this.

Penrhos237
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: R Winston| T: C Hills
8/1
First foal of a sister to G1 2-y-o winner Hearts of Fire. Showed plenty when 5 lengths third of 14 to Politicise in a C&D novice in September, and type to progress this year, so respected.

Bated Breath half-brother to 7f winner Three Gracez and 1m-1½m winner Three Duchesses. Yard has had three winners from seven 3-y-o runners here this season, and that alone makes him of interest.

Pulled up having lost his action after leading on debut at Wolverhampton in March, and clearly has ability. Gelded since and market should provide clues as to what's expected.

Horse silk

By Epaulette out of a 6f-7f winner. Cost just £5,500 as a yearling, and doesn't make a great deal of appeal making his debut at this level.

Forecasts

Jubiloso (4/5), After John (6/1), Falsehood (7/1), Penrhos (8/1), Puerto Banus (20/1), Immoral (20/1), River Dawn (25/1), Kaafy (25/1), Island Glen (33/1), A Hundred Echoes (50/1), Soldier's Son (66/1), Illywhacker (80/1)

15:55 Newbury - 17 May 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

JUBILOSO looked an excellent prospect when winning well on her Chelmsford debut, and there is no reason to think she won't be just as good on turf, so she gets the nod over After John and Penrhos, both of whom shaped well at the first time of asking. Puerto Banus represents a yard which has done well in similar races here this year, and could be the best of the newcomers.
  1. Jubiloso
  2. After John
  3. Penrhos
