Always hard to ignore at a track where he's a living legend with nine course wins (three over C&D). Has run poorly on his last two visits here though failing to show anything like his true form in a better grade last time; not getting any younger.

Capable handicapper on turf (better on the AW) who has already scored twice on the AW this year (not the most consistent though). Twice a winner here over 1m he stays this trip but disappointed here last time over 1m; can be slow away.

His long losing run stretches back to his win here over 1m4f (May 2017) off a mark of 70 so he's clearly well handicapped now. Has run well of late though on the AW catching the eye on the last two occasions; must have races in him off this mark.

Like a few in this his losing run has continued to mount of late although he has shown up well of late in contests that maybe were not run to suit. Got involved in a muddling contest last time; not one to be making too many excuses for though.

Course winner who has slipped back below his last winning mark and ran well here last time enjoying the strong pace (gets minimal assistance from the saddle from this rider). Often slow away and possible trip doubts mean others appeal more.

Course winner over 7f who does stay this far but isn't the most straightforward; looks to be better on turf than AW. Produced a very laboured effort last time (possibly needed the run); progress needed, care advised.

Lightly-raced on the Flat with a Chelmsford 1m2f handicap win to his name off a 2lb lower mark. Has been hurdling with Tim Vaughan and now makes his return to the Flat debuting for a new yard after wind surgery; best watched for now.

Not the easiest to win with or catch when he's in form but he did offer something to work on last time at Southwell (came from a difficult position). Has to repeat that and more to have a chance; does have his quirks though.

His four wins last year all came before the middle of the year and since then he's embarked on a long losing run although he does have a reduced mark to work with. Been more miss than hit of late and looks to be struggling to find his form again.

Forecasts

Lunar Deity (3/1), Light Of Air (5/1), Duke Of North (5/1), Roy Rocket (6/1), Rubensian (7/1), Seaborn (9/1), War Of Succession (9/1), Castle Talbot (10/1), Attain (22/1)

17:00 Brighton - 30 April 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Quite a few of these are bidding to break long losing runs with LIGHT OF AIR the one with the best chance of doing so having bounced back to form last time and it wouldn’t take a great deal of improvement for him to go one better than his run at Lingfield last time. Rubensian is another who is trying to get back to winning ways but often flatters only to deceive. Duke Of North could do with some more assistance from the saddle but looks dangerous off this mark around a track he acts on if he gets a decent gallop to aim at. There would be no more popular winner than course specialist Roy Rocket but he’s yet to show he can win as a veteran with Lunar Deity another to consider.
