7/2
C&D winner (one of two victories last year) who has run creditably this year so far without looking as though he was going to win any of his three starts. Just 3lb higher than his C&D win; may appreciate a return to the scene of his last win.

7/2
On a long losing run although he did run well on his first start of the year in the face of a stiff task (6lb out of the handicap in a higher grade). Not seen to best effect last time; kept on well (under a kind ride), well handicapped on old form.

Last three wins have all come on the AW (acts well enough on turf); shaped well (if a little unlucky) off his lower turf mark at Epsom (5f, good/firm) last time. Dropped 1lb for that run he features off a good mark if he can put it together on turf.

11/2
Dual course winner (once over C&D) who makes his seasonal return although he never looks that keen under pressure. Shaped as though in good form when last seen but the doubts about his temperament makes him an unsafe proposition.

Picked up three wins last year when with Chris Dwyer one over C&D off a 5lb higher mark. Not quite fired for this yard in three starts (better than his form figures suggest); not seen to best effect last time; nicely weighted if coming to life.

Failed to stay 7f last time (back from an absence; wore first-time hood) but showed he still had ability. Cheekpieces (worn for all wins; including one over C&D) return; back down in trip, clearly of interest return to sprinting.

Course winner over 6f that win coming in a purple patch when first running for this yard early last year. Only won once since then and doesn't look in much form of late although has slipped back below his last winning mark; others appeal more.

Forecasts

Harry Hurricane (7/2), Little Boy Blue (7/2), Shamshon (4/1), Jack Taylor (11/2), Crystal Deauville (7/1), Tan (8/1), Arzaak (12/1)

13:50 Brighton - 30 April 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Four of the field have won over C&D and it’s the back in trip CRYSTAL DEAUVILLE who is of the most interest especially now that he dons some cheekpieces again, that run may well have put him just right for this. Several are also nicely weighted with Arzaak one of that group a return here could spring a return to form this test should show him to better effect. Shamshon hasn’t always been at his best on turf but judged on his Epsom run of last week he’s another who features on a decent mark. The long losing run of Harry Hurricane gives rise to doubts about his chance with Little Boy Blue also having to show more zip than he has of late.
  1. Crystal Deauville
  2. Shamshon
  3. Arzaak
