Second in first two bumpers last term (including over C&D) before winning well at Kelso last May for John Quinn. Not seen since and joined current yard in February. 11-month absence to overcome and no easy task conceding penalty in fair race.

Montmartre gelding who showed some ability when fourth at Aintree in November before taking big step forward with close fifth in listed Ascot bumper in December. Yard going very well and has clear chance on evidence of last run.

Nicely bred Shirocco gelding makes his racecourse bow for yard in decent nick. Related to a number of winner's on dam's side and interesting to see how he fares.
€13,000 Califet gelding whose dam won a bumper and whose half-brother has also won a bumper. Pedigree suggests he may be OK and market should indicate if he's ready to do himself justice first time out.

Looks good on paper being a daughter of Dalakhani and is half-sister to a Musidora Stakes winner among six winning siblings. Bought for £12,000 last year being unraced on Flat. Underwent recent wind surgery and wears first time tongue-tie on debut.

Forecasts

Montego Grey (4/6), Akarita Lights (5/2), Emphatic Qualm (9/1), Onboard (12/1), Shah An Shah (14/1)

17:10 Market Rasen - 21 April 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Just five runners in this bumper but a very interesting race in prospect. It's hard to get away from the fine listed Ascot bumper form of MONTEGO GREY who should be hard to beat if running close to that level after a four-month break. Previous winner Akarita Lights has his first start for the Alan King yard and this Kelso winner last year is a capable sort. It won't be easy though conceding 7lb to the selection. Of the unraced trio Emphatic Qualm is preferred ahead of Shah An Shah.
  1. Montego Grey
  2. Akarita Lights
  3. Shah An Shah
