Won at Thirsk last year but largely struggled for form since that success and not always fluent from the stalls, as seen when unseating the rider here in September. Back below last winning mark but needed the run on seasonal reappearance last year.

Three-time course winner but has been in poor form on AW of late and he's never won over this trip. Opposable in current form.

Has won eight of his 42 starts on turf including some wins on undulating tracks, a positive at this venue. Back below his last winning mark and while disappointing towards the end of last year, the break should have freshened him up.

Two wins from 18 starts but they have both come on AW and he's yet to place on turf. Disappointing favourite last time and looks vulnerable here.

Hasn't won over this trip since her maiden success in 2015 and all recent form suggests she's better over 6f. Usually prefers a bit of cut in the ground and likely to find this test too sharp.

He's a specialist over this minimum trip and still feasibly handicapped. The concern would be the dry forecast, given he likes a bit of give underfoot and he's needed his reappearance run in years gone by.

Too keen on his last couple of starts either side of a break and regularly refuses to settle in his races. Very well-handicapped on old form but looks in need of headgear and yard seemingly have stronger claims with One Boy.

Has won Class 2/3 handicaps in his time and he's useful when he gets a decent pace to aim at, as seen when winning at Newcastle in September. Hold up tactics not ideally suited to this C&D though and others make more appeal.

Off the mark at the 17th time of asking when landing 5f AW contest at Newcastle early last month. Form isn't all that strong and must prove he can replicate the effort on turf from 3lb higher mark today.

Forecasts

Socialites Red (3/1), Patrick (7/2), Highly Sprung (9/2), Spirit Power (13/2), Decision Maker (8/1), Suitcase 'n' Taxi (9/1), Kibaar (11/1), One Boy (20/1), King Crimson (25/1)

Decision Maker belatedly got off the mark at Newcastle on the AW last month and will be a player if transferring that positive effort to turf. The race he won wasn't strong and the form is working out a shade windy so preference is for KING CRIMSON. He scored twice over this trip last summer after joining John Butler and was kept busy right through until December. Freshened up since, he's now 4lb below his previous win-mark and also benefits from a useful 5lb claim on his back. If he can grab the lead (wide draw against him) he could be hard to catch. Socialites Red and the re-appearing One Boy are amongst the dangers.
  1. King Crimson
  2. Decision Maker
  3. Socialites Red
