Wexford bumper winner in 2017 has been getting little help from the handicapper over timber. 0-12 now, placed three times, but back on opening mark having gone up for recent third at Clonmel (3m, good). Drop in trip fine, vulnerable for the win.

Promising third of seven at Limerick over 2m on good ground in October but generally well held in a couple of starts at Thurles and Punchestown before Christmas over this sort of trip. Needs to bounce back off short break.

Sole win came over 7f on the Flat for Kevin Ryan in September 2017 but remains a seven-race maiden over hurdles having failed to muster a challenge on stable debut at Thurles this month. First time tackling this sort of trip.

Well beaten over 20L in each of his three handicap hurdle starts since October, he did run a better race (sixth of 20, beaten 7½L) over this C&D in December on soft to heavy going. Given a rest since and worth a market check.

Running well in defeat in a couple of starts around the turn of the year over varying trips, theme continued at Thurles this month when third over 2m (good to yielding). Stays this far and should be competitive, 0-10 over timber so far however.

Missed more than three years after being pulled up over C&D in 2015. Three solid placed effort this winter on soft/heavy ground at Tramore and Clonmel over 2m. Well worth another try over the longer distance.

Modest form to date and has been well beaten in his first trio of handicap hurdle starts, latest coming this month at Leopardstown. Still looking no nearer to breakthrough success and others preferred.

0-26 over hurdles now, but has been running with consistency of late over variety of trips. Should handle the conditions, though yet to show best form at this track in four starts.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Phillip Enright| T: R Sweeney| OR:  85

13-race maiden, came within ½L of a first victory when runner-up over an extended 2m6f at Thurles (good) last time out. One to note on the back of that positive effort.

Modest record so far over timber, didn't run badly at Clonmel recently over 3m on good ground, though still must improve back down in trip in order to open account.

14-race maiden with inconsistency his most reliable trait. Was pulled up in 3m handicap hurdle here last April and off since. Rated 3lb lower now but tough to make a case for on formbook.

Poor record in a string of starts over timber in Ireland last year, then won a point-to-point in November. Tailed off the following month in 2m6½f novice handicap hurdle at Kelso and off since.

Now 10-years-old and without a win, only making it to the track since August 2017. Tongue-tie is added but even his best form to date would leave him shy of what should be required.

Germany Johnt487
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: Brian Hayes| T: E Mullins| OR:  80

A 21-race maiden under rules, he's missed more than a year and can only be watched on first outing for Emmet Mullins.

Very little to recommend him on overall profile (0-9 so far) and has failed to complete in recent starts at Punchestown (fell) and Limerick (pulled up), both over 3m+.

Lagenod went close to breaking his duck at Thurles over a slightly longer journey and should pose a threat with a repeat of that effort but preference is for LORD BORU. Having missed three years, he ran a stormer at Tramore in December on his return when second. He has twice more made the frame since and, given a short break since January, looks well worth another crack at this distance from an unchanged mark. Jennys Grey consistently runs her races and Paul Townend's mount should so again, but the handicapper still retains an authority over her seemingly. Whereyounow improved over C&D in December and can be given a second look in the betting on first run since.
  1. Lord Boru
  2. Lagenod
  3. Jennys Grey
