May Sonic
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2| J: R Kingscote| T: C Hills
7/4
£26,000 yearling. Half-brother to three winners, two of them over 6f, the best being Queen Of Kalahari, whose official mark peaked at 76 last year. In good hands and trainer strike rate 13% with AW 3yos, so could make a nice debut.

18,000gns (vendor) yearling. Half-brother to six Flat winners from 7f-2m, the best of which was Desert Ruler, three of whom also won over jumps. Plenty of stamina in pedigree. Stable 26% with AW 3yos and no surprise to see him go well on debut.

Went close over C&D on debut, but couldn't quite go quick enough at Chelmsford over 6f last time. Return to this C&D should help, and he can't be ruled out, but does have a tough draw to overcome.

16,000gns 2yo. 5th foal. Half-brother to winners Anif (1m-1m1f inc AW), Mungamis (7f-1m2ff Fr/Spain) & Ladheeda (French 1m3f). Dam once-raced half-sister to 1m1f & 1m4f AW Gr 3 winner/2,000 third Kandidate. Wide draw to contend with on debut.

Improved for his debut when 3L fourth on being stepped up to 1m at Newcastle last time. Returns to the C&D of his debut and he enters calculations this time.

Has produced two similar efforts, here over 6f and then at Lingfield over the same trip last time, when beaten at odds-on. Headgear now applied, as well as a step up in trip, and he is entitled to consideration from a decent pitch.

1,000gns yearling. 800gns 2yo. Half-brother to two winners, the best being My Boy Sepoy (1m-1m2f), the other Canadian Royal (6f). Stable 11% with AW 3yos, which is its most productive category, but this gelding is probably best watched first time.

Newbury novice run on second start was certainly promising (6f, good to firm), so her last run at Brighton in October was a disappointment. If she can get back to that second effort now tried over this trip, you couldn't rule her out. Market check.

Improved on her debut when tried on Polytrack at Lingfield last time, but was still well held. Wide draw to cope with here and needs a big step up on what we have seen to win this time.

Hung when the pressure was on at Wolverhampton last time. Had come in for a bit of support that day, so there is probably sufficient ability to win some races, but needs to step up on that and has the widest draw here.

Stay Forever14
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: David Probert| T: A M Balding| OR:  67| BF

Improved with each run in 2018, but couldn't get her nose in front. Has a similar profile in three AW runs, coming closest at Southwell (1m) last time. Has already shown she can better that, and she looks a big player here.

10,000gns yearling. Second foal. Half-sister to 1m AW winner Cashel. Dam unraced half-sister to US 1m2f-1m4f turf Grade 2/3 winner Starformer out of French/US 6½f-1m½f (inc 7f Group 1) winner. Probably one to watch unless market vibes strong.

May Sonic (7/4), Scorched Breath (11/4), Canford Dancer (4/1), Guiding Spirit (7/1), Stay Forever (8/1), Altar Boy (10/1), The Dancing Poet (12/1), Munhamek (14/1), Just Benjamin (14/1), Tulloona (25/1), Sweet Celebration (33/1), Zorro's Girl (40/1), April Wine (80/1), I'm Brian (100/1)

17:10 Kempton - 13 March 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Canford Dancer would have claims here if able to repeat or better her second run, so watch the market for clues there, while May Sonic and Just Benjamin will probably both be capable of decent debut runs. Stay Forever is building nicely, but she has had a few chances now and the suggestion is to side with GUIDING SPIRIT, who made a good stride forward last time, and could improve enough to win this.
  1. Guiding Spirit
  2. Just Benjamin
  3. Stay Forever
