Consistent performer going the right way and won well on handicap debut at Doncaster last week pulling well clear in the closing stages. Up 7lb for that win but drops back in grade here so sound claims of further progress.

Won a maiden hurdle at Chepstow (2m4f, soft) back in November but well held on handicap debut at Sedgefield since. Still shaped with future promise there and Noel Fehily back on board here.

Dual point-to-point winner that has shown promise in two starts over hurdles so far. Goes up markedly in trip for handicap debut and that looks a good move. Should be more to come and any rain a plus.

Had a pretty miserable time of things last winter before scrambling home at Uttoxeter in April. Not been seen since and races here off 10lb higher so every chance he will need the run.

Not been with this yard long and having won a selling hurdle at Leicester in December he has run two poor races over fences since. Tongue-tie goes on today but hard to know what we will get.

Fell at the first in two attempts over fences recently. Looked out of sorts back over hurdles at Market Rasen last time and dropped 3lb as a result. hard to fancy all the same.

Getting the hang of things and upset a short priced favourite when running out a ready winner at Mussleburgh two weeks ago. Starts life in handicaps off a very workable mark up in trip and could have a big role to play.

Yet to win in 12 starts under rules and despite a falling mark it is hard to get excited about his prospects here. Others have much stronger claims.

Won a novices' handicap at Southwell (3m, good) last May off 5lb lower but has really struggled in three starts this winter. Needs to up her game significantly back up in trip here having had wind surgery.

Competitive on all starts so far and just got outpaced on handicap debut at Market Rasen last time. Mark looks workable but does need to find a little extra to be winning.

Jabulani61

After a couple of poor efforts over fences he returned to form over hurdles last time when a fair second over 2m3f at Haydock. Races off the same mark here and significantly up in trip. so player once again.

Yet to win but ran a fair race behind Glen Forsa at Chepstow over fences back in November. Fell next time and now reverts back to hurdles and this mark is interesting if you take that Chepstow effort seriously.

King Coolp32
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  108| D

Easy winner last time out (well-backed); returned from 10 weeks off with cheekpieces back on; appeared to relish the task. Stayed on strongly that day so a return to this trip looks a good move from an 8lb higher mark.

His Dream35

Won really well under this rider at Warwick on New Years Eve. Not as good off this higher mark last time but once again leading claimers allowance helps here and will be a player if putting his best foot forward.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: T J O'Brien| T: Ian Williams| OR:  108

Won easily at Doncaster in November but has really disappointed the last twice. Seemed to hate the soft ground at Ascot but no real excuses last time. Needs to bounce back.

Won a selling hurdle at Worcester in September and picked up by connections for £8,500 since. Tailed off on yard debut and now drops in grade. Much more needed.

15:55 Newbury - 1 March 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Competitive stuff here and plenty with claims. Skidoosh is on an upward curve and should give another good account of himself here under a penalty after his ready success at Doncaster last week. His Dream and Jabulani are both respected as types that could bounce back to form here. King Cool stayed on strongly to win at Kempton last time and will be a player once more going back up in trip. Marginal preference is for COPPER GONE WEST who beat a good yardstick very easily at Mussleburgh two weeks ago and looks on a tempting mark for handicap debut.
  1. Copper Gone West
  2. King Cool
  3. Skidoosh
