Rock-solid C&D performer (1,2,2,1,2); beaten a neck by the re-opposing Rey Loopy 29-days ago; also has C&D previous with My Target.

Went down by ½L to Glory Of Paris in a tactical small-field affair over C&D on his penultimate start; probable trip excuses (1m2f) at Lingfield latest, but others are far more appealing.

Age: 8|  Weight: 0-0| J: Cam Hardie| T: M Wigham| OR:  84| D
11/1
Lingfield specialist who is dropping in the weights after a couple of essentially modest efforts; 3lb lower than when beaten ½L by Trevithick over C&D in early January and needs to bounce back to that level of form in order to be considered.

5-20 on the AW; prominent racer who was caught in the shadow of the post by Made Of Honour over 7f here on his penultimate start; not so effective just six days later (6/4f) and the suitability of this trip is questionable.

6lb higher than when recording a second Chelmsford win (1m) in January (beat Zodiakos by almost 3L); very much on the premises dropped back in trip under a less experienced rider latest; couldn't be discounted on Newcastle debut.

9/2
Handicap debutante; improving with racing and ventured over to Dundalk in order to break the maiden tag (7f) 26-days ago; by Mastercraftsman so shouldn't be inconvenienced by stepping up in trip and visually is a fine looking specimen.

Like so many of his stablemates has developed into a course specialist (his form figures since September read 2,7,5,2,1,2,1,2); kept on well to beat the re-opposing Trevithick by a neck on his penultimate start and bumped in a thriving rival latest.

12/1
Six-time C&D winner who hasn't quite proved to be the force of old this winter, albeit hasn't necessarily been that far off the mark either; falling in the weights but looks to be held by the likes of Rey Loopy and Trevithick.

Forecasts

Rey Loopy (2/1), Philamundo (10/3), Master Diver (9/2), Trevithick (9/2), Fayez (13/2), My Target (11/1), Testa Rossa (12/1), Call Out Loud (14/1)

16:20 Newcastle - 20 February 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Given their fine respective runs of form in recent months it's difficult to split the C&D specialists Trevithick and Rey Loopy, whilst the Newcastle debutante Philamundo also merits consideration now stepping back up in trip with a more experienced rider in the saddle. However, there is an unexposed young pretender on the block and that is the fine-looking Mastercraftsman gelding MASTER DIVER. He demonstrated a stack of ability on his second start here (6f) in January, yet was far from the finished article. Progressing to break the maiden on Polytrack at Dundalk a mere eight-days later, an opening mark of 81 should prove to be well within his comfort zone.
  1. Master Diver
  2. Rey Loopy
  3. Philamundo
