Eight time winner under Rules but finished well beaten in a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m7f at Chepstow (soft) on stable debut in December. Interesting to see how he fares on his return to chasing.
Good fourth in a 2m4f handicap chase at Aintree (soft) in November 2017. Failed to figure in two starts last year however including when pulled up at Ascot (2m3f, soft) in December.
Impressive 8L winner of a handicap chase over an extended 2m4f at Kempton (good) in November. Drop in distance in his favour following a 56L defeat over 3m at the same venue the following month.
Battled to a ½L victory in a 2m4f beginners chase at Uttoxeter (good) in May 2017. Promising second at Newton Abbot (2m5f, good-to-firm) and market support would be notable on his return from a long absence.
Chased home Deauville Dancer when beaten 8L into second in a handicap chase over an extended 2m4f at Kempton (good) in November. Interesting contender racing off the same mark on this occasion.
Ran well to finish third over this distance in a good-to-soft ground handicap chase at Sandown a month ago. Interesting contender racing off a mark 1lb higher than he did on that occasion.
Failed to finish on two most recent starts including when brought down over 2m3f at Exeter (soft) last time out. Races off a mark 1lb lower than when winning at Hereford (2m5f, soft) just over a year ago.
Good third in a five runner 2m1f novices' handicap chase at Ascot (soft) in December. Fell in a C&D handicap chase on good ground last month and is a leading contender for a top yard.
Returning from a long absence when unseating early at Chepstow a month ago. Ran well when 9L third at Haydock (good-to-soft) over an extended 2m subsequently and cheekpieces worn for the first time that day are retained for this step up in distance.
Forecasts
Tommy Silver (10/3), Gortroe Joe (4/1), Brother Tedd (5/1), Western Miller (5/1), Gardefort (17/2), Town Parks (10/1), Henryville (12/1), Deadly Approach (14/1), Deauville Dancer (16/1)
GORTROE JOE can put a fall last time out behind him to take this competitive handicap chase. The selection had run well when placed prior to that and can take this at the chief expense of Tommy Silver who can reverse Kempton form with Deauville Dancer on these revised terms.
