Applied forcing tactics from the outset when beating Ornate by a neck at Southwell (5f) on his penultimate start (with that runner-up gaining his revenge on improved terms since); faces competition for the lead.
Has had a few issues with the starting stalls at Southwell of late and if he fluffs the break in this contest the others will be away and gone; first AW start away from Southwell since February 2018.

Hard to fault his record over C&D in Class 6 handicaps this winter but this level of competition is a whole new ball game; very difficult to consider as a realistic contender from 10lb out of the handicap.

A 'burn-up' is nigh guaranteed with no shortage of early pace options, which include Saturday's Chelmsford scorer Joegogo, Tan and the Eric Alston-trained Acclaim The Nation. Therefore, this race could potentially go the way of a hold-up horse with SOMETHING LUCKY, Union Rose and the somewhat risky Samovar fitting that profile. The selection (a stablemate of Tan) has returned to his last winning mark of 80 and assuming that his very capable young rider Alistair Rawlinson is brave enough to rein him back early on from an inside berth, he can be expected to be picking the others off at a rate of knots late in the race.
