4/11
Improving novice who won a Southwell maiden hurdle (good to soft) last month in convincing fashion, prior to a better effort at Kempton on Boxing Day. That race has worked out well, and he should prove tough to topple under a penalty.

Didn't show a huge amount in his two bumpers, nor on his recent hurdles debut at Ayr. Looks a longer-term project.
3
Horse silk
33/1
Showed promise on his first two starts in bumper company, but weakened quite quickly out of it here (good to soft) in another of those last time. Will probably be of more interest when upped in trip, and this looks tough on his hurdles debut.

Horse silk
50/1
Finished third in the only Irish point-to-point in which he completed (from five attempts). Cost £7,500 last May. In good hands, but probably one to watch today, unless subject of significant support.
Put some modest point-to-point form behind him when a 2L third over C&D (soft) on his rules debut last month. Bettered that in defeat at Wetherby since. Looks capable of winning races, though may have to wait a little longer.

Placed in an Irish bumper and ran with the choke out when opening up a big lead over C&D last time, before folding late on to be third. If settling better, you couldn't rule him out.

Runner-up in both a bumper (debut) and then again when fresh on his hurdles debut at Perth (2m4f, soft) last April. Not as good when looking in need of his latest Catterick start, but has frame claims again if better for that.

0-14 in point-to-points and well beaten on his rules debut at Catterick last month. Can only watch now that he switches to hurdling over what looks an inadequate trip.

Multiple AW Flat winner, four of those wins coming here at 7f-1m. Beaten a long way on last month's hurdles debut at Kelso and has a lot to prove.
Has shown little so far in either bumpers or over hurdles. Had wind surgery prior to latest start, with no obvious immediate improvement. Can only watch.

Not devoid of promise on her first two starts in bumpers and soft ground a possible excuse at Uttoxeter last month. Probably capable of better now that she goes hurdling, but looks one to watch on her first attempt.

Horse silk
80/1
Sprang a 20-1 surprise on debut in an AW bumper here last April. Not as good on her sole turf run so far, at Kelso in November. Best effort came when back here on AW last time. Stable in good form, and she should be competing for some prize money.

Couldn't get competitive in four Flat starts for Mark Johnston last year, and no real signs of ability on hurdles/stable debut for this trainer over C&D recently.

Horse silk
4/1
Was second on four occasions on the Flat for Ed Dunlop, three of those at around 1m2f. 12-1 and made a pleasing hurdles debut at Wetherby earlier in the month, when beaten 3¼L. Should be heavily involved.

River Glades21
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-7| J: C R King| T: T P Tate
16/1
Soft ground winner over 1m6f on the Flat last April, when trained by Mark Johnston (OR 74). Market drifter but ran well enough on AW debut for this yard at Newcastle recently. In good hands and could make an impact on hurdles debut.

16:05 Newcastle - 29 January 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not many obvious contenders here, with Qawamees, hurdles newcomer River Glades, Point Break and Oscar Wilde looking likely to be the north's best hopes of picking up prize money. However, the win can go to ROUGE VIF, whose latest run has worked out well, and he is taken to defy a penalty.

  2. Qawamees
  3. Point Break
