2018 C&D winner finished second here subsequently before winning at Catterick. Handicapper caught up thereafter but getting help now and gets further 2lb back from latest fourth here. Each way potential.

Maiden but showed some fair form for William Haggas in 2017. Just the three 2018 runs for this yard and beat a combined two rivals in them. Off since poor run at Carlisle in August so question marks aplenty.

Lone win came just over a year ago on Southwell's Fibresand surface. Little to recommend of late with two eighths the last twice so despite now potentially appealing mark others are more compelling.

Enjoys Tapeta surface having won four of his six races on it and two of those over C&D. Gained third win for this yard on Boxing Day at Wolverhampton and form since remained competitive. Not obviously well handicapped but still go well.

13-race maiden finished a good third here over 6f two starts back before slightly lesser effort last time when ninth. Gets 2lb back and should be as effective at this trip so repeat of penultimate gives him claims.

Four-time course winner including three starts back over 6f. Second next over the same trip before disappointing latest. As effective over 7f so step up no issue but bounce back now needed.

Relatively lightly raced Lingfield maiden winner but unplaced in five subsequent handicaps. Possible something amiss when last seen here in September. Handicap has tumbled but risky proposition overall.

Both wins and all best form seems to come here and in good form to end 2018 until latest run where somewhat below par. Same mark as head second time before so claims if able to leave latest run behind.

Made next to no impression in seven hurdle starts but this Irish raider is potentially well treated on the flat given he won off a 21lb higher mark in 2017 over this trip. Draw isn't ideal and surface unknown but very interesting contender.

Seven race maiden was threatening to get competitive early in 2018 but then missed 254 days before finishing seventh at Wolverhampton. Second back after a layoff she should strip fitter and is respected.

Dual-purpose performer placed in seven of his last eight starts including over C&D the last twice off this mark. No reason he isn't again heavily involved and few here match his consistency.

Narrow Wolverhampton winner in early December and next run there can be forgiven after her saddle slipped. Only 1lb higher than aforementioned win although that her only success in 15.

All five career wins come at Hamilton on turf over 6f and most recent was 2014. Only ran twice in 2018 but Southwell third on first start this year was encouraging. Handicap may now be workable but others appeal more.

Winless and placeless in seven 2018 races and last three all saw him beaten double digits in lengths. Break since and can do better but highly risky overall.

18:45 Newcastle - 25 January 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A chance here is taken on Irish raider THE MCGREGORNATOR who won off a mark of 77 in 2017 and has only run six times on the flat since to earn this 21lb lower mark. His hurdles form of late has been weak but one suspects he doesn't stay well enough there so this very different test could see his form rekindled. Nobody could begrudge Great Colaci a win after him being a model of consistency without success in 2018. False Id is always respected in such contests on this surface and is another expected to go close.
