Amor Fati13
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-8| J: William Carver| T: P D Evans| OR:  51| CD
7/2
C&D winner off a basement mark (first win) on his penultimate start he looked unlucky not to follow-up a day later under a penalty over a longer trip at Wolverhampton. Not seen since then he should be able to cope with this mark on return.

Managed to find some form when winning over 6f here in December off a 2lb lower mark against one of the weakest fields she has tackled. Has since run with credit over 6f on Fibresand (previous winner on surface); ran poorly over C&D last time.

Cheekpieces go on for the first time in a bid to find some sort of form having only shown some very modest form so far. Offered very little when making her handicap last time over 6f here; dropped 2lb but more needed to be of interest.

Capable of popping up in races like this; won four times last year although the last three of those wins all came in anaemic contests (this isn't any better though). Struggling for form since his last win; has won over 1m here in the past.

Three time course winner (once over C&D) who has now slipped back below his last winning mark but isn't one for maximum faith. Most of his recent runs have been of questionable quality; one-paced fourth over C&D last time.

Has shown signs of getting back on track and confirmed those indications last time over C&D (first-time cheekpieces) off a lowly mark. No certainty to build on that run but dropped a further 1lb and hard to ignore if she can repeat that run.

Modest maiden who makes his debut for a yard well known for rejuvenating such types on the AW. Yet to run on any synthetic surface but starts out off a basement mark and given the modus operandi of the stable worth a market check.

Not really bred for this sort of trip this will be just his second start for this yard having been well held in minor events/handicaps previously. Hard to build a case for him even off a rock-bottom mark returning from a break; best watched.

8/1
First winner for the trainer when taking a similar event in early 2018 and has run with credit since then despite building up a losing run of 18. Should remain competitive but suspicion his late-running style isn't really suited by this track.

Well below form in her last three starts including in a first-time visor (latest start; retained here). This is a drop in grade though compared to her recent starts although it's never easy coming from off the pace here (usual run style).

Maiden who has shown very little he has been seen of late (only run twice since December 2017). Finished last of 15 over 1m here last time and not one to be interested in even in this basement grade.

Had 10 starts in 2018 (wore headgear in all bar one) and failed to really fire in any of them and remains a maiden after 38 starts; hardly bet compelling statistics. Now tried in a tongue-tie for the first-time but makes very little appeal.

16:25 Chelmsford City - 24 January 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A very modest start to the card with not many holding much appeal and career records that total 39-490 although Amor Fati has stronger credentials than most having won over C&D last month and he looks sure to be suited by a return here. CANIMAR showed indications that she could win a contest like this last time and a repeat of her latest start would see her go close in this. Plucky Dip, Tellovoi and Malaysian Boleh form a trio that can’t be written off in this grade although none of them are consistent. Sir Lancelot is far from serial winner but more consistent than most in this and that gives him a place chance despite a poor draw.
  1. Canimar
  2. Amor Fati
  3. Sir Lancelott
