In fine form when last seen on turf in September, winning back-to-back handicaps at Bath. Reverts to the AW off a 2lb higher mark than for the second of those successes, but is effective on synthetic surfaces.
Landed a novice event over this trip at Newcastle in November, 2017, and was not disgraced when fifth of nine on his handicap debut following a long absence over the same C&D earlier this month. Races off 1lb lower and should strip much fitter.
Won a novice contest over this distance at Wolverhampton last April, his only success in 11 starts for David Evans. First run for this trainer after a spell on the sidelines.
Formerly trained by Michael Bell, he was having his third run for this handler when scoring over C&D earlier this month. Likely to be thereabouts again off 2lb higher.
Led for a long way when third to stable companion Choice Encounter over C&D. Gets a 2lb pull and has clear prospects, especially if ridden with slightly more restraint.
Back to form when finishing a good third over 7f at this venue in November. Effective over this shorter trip and races off the same mark.
Forecasts
Choice Encounter (11/4), Kamra (3/1), Global Tango (7/2), National Glory (11/2), Last Page (13/2), Red Alert (14/1), Nezar (20/1)
Global Tango ran respectably following a long break and may be capable of much better than he has shown. However, trainer Archie Watson seems to hold the key to this with Choice Encounter and NATIONAL GLORY. The latter can turn around C&D form with his stable companion on better terms, especially if he can be held on to for a little longer. Red Alert, Kamra and Nezar cannot be dismissed lightly.
