Won a Fontwell bumper (1m5½f, heavy) on debut a year ago and bettered that in defeat under a penalty next time. Not disgraced on hurdles debut at Newbury last month, and with improvement for that, he would not be far away.

Easy winner of a point-to-point last April, after which he joined this top stable. Should be capable of a decent rules debut.

Horse silk
20/1
Won an Irish point-to-point on is third start, last April. Cost £29,750 soon after, and ran with credit over C&D (heavy) on his rules debut last month. Well below par last time at Uttoxeter, however, but not written off after that.

Horse silk
16/1
Improving with each run, including when stepped up to 2m4f on heavy at Carlisle last month. Needs to step up on that over further still here, and if he can do so, he could be in the battle for some prize money.

33-1 but made a very promising debut when ¾L second on debut at Doncaster (2m3½f, good) last month. A repeat or better this time would make him a serious contender again.

Yet to win, but still improving and put up his best effort yet when 4½L third at Huntingdon (2m3½f, soft) on Boxing Day. Runner-up has since gone close again, so the form looks solid. Enters calculations.
7
Horse silk
8/1
Improved with each start in bumpers and again on his hurdles debut (2m4½f, heavy) at Uttoxeter last time. Steps up again in trip, which looks positive based on that latest run, and should be capable of being thereabouts again.

Won a Newton Abbot bumper (good to firm) on debut in July 2016, when with Colin Tizzard. Was off the track from then until being last of 17 on his reappearance/stable debut at Warwick last time. Can only watch after that.

Showed a bit of promise in bumpers, but stepped up on those performances when beaten under 1L on his hurdles debut at Hereford (3m1½f, good to soft) in November. Can improve on that, and no surprise to see him closely involved again.

Beat Liosduin Bhearna 2L when winning his sole Irish point-to-point. 4L second on his hurdles debut at Doncaster last time, in a race that is working out well. Serious player.

Looks capable of winning races, but has yet to confirm that promise in maiden/novice company. Latest run, when stepped up to 2m7f, was another very good one in the context of this race, and he should be heavily involved.

Shamilan29

Has taken a step forward with each hurdles run so far, and was 2L second ar Exeter (2m7f, heavy) last time. Stamina therefore looks assured. Bit more to find, but can't rule him out.

33/1
Sent off at big prices and well held on his first two hurdles runs, but did better last time in a maiden at Plumpton. Steps up in trip here, and that could induce improvement, which he will need on the bare form of his achievements so far.

Horse silk
14/1
Dual bumper winner last spring. 7-2 on last month's Exeter hurdles debut, when he finished a respectable 5¾L third (3¾L behind the more experience Shamilan). Potential for more, so not ruled out.

18-race maiden. Best form over both fences and hurdles has been on good ground. Likely to find a few too good.
16
Horse silk
50/1
Multiple point-to-point and also bumper winner. 14-1 and well held on last month's hurdles debut, but that was after a 20-month absence. Can only watch again this time.

Another interesting contest in prospect, with the suggestion being MINELLA BOBO. Rebecca Curtis's six-year-old ran well on his first attempt over hurdles, in a race where the winner has since gone close from a mark of 130, and the fourth also won on his handicap debut at Market Rasen on Thursday. If he can make similar progress, he could prove tough to beat. Foxworthy is a notable debutant from a top yard, while Fontsanta, Ivilnoble. Liosduin Bhearna, Master Card and Samburu Shujaa are others who could all make their presence felt.
  1. Minella Bobo
