From a stable with an outstanding bumper record here this Special Kaldoun gelding tries to defy a penalty gained for his 2L AW bumper victory on debut. Odds-on for that contest the form has not been tested as he tries turf for the first time.
Both his outings in this sphere 6 months apart have shown promise and he bumped into a useful sort last time at Chepstow. That form has been franked by a couple that finished behind and he's likely to go well again here and show his experience.

One of two that the trainer runs in this but he'll be doing well to challenge with either. This one finished last on his bumper debut at Ludlow (50-1) and this is likely to prove too tough a test again.

The second of two runners that the trainer runs in this. A son of Robin Des Pres he's unraced out of a dam who was a maiden pointer. Yard are 0-17 in bumpers over the last five years and that record is unlikely to improve in this.

From a yard that do well in bumpers he cost £60,000 as a four-year-old having finished runner-up in small field Irish maiden point-to-point (form looks modest). Has had some wind surgery and has to be respected given his connections.
Yard have so far underperformed in bumpers this season (1-28) and are a little quiet overall at the moment. This Stowaway gelding makes his debut here having cost €26,000 as a three-year-old; market needs to be positive for an interest.

Needed the experience on his bumper debut (not without promise) but failed to build on that initial outing when seen in an AW bumper last time. Hard to see him making much of an impression in this better contest.

Has a couple of useful relations in his pedigree but his point-to-point form (6F55) would not having you rushing to support him on his bumper debut. First run for this yard who are 1-15 in this sphere in the last five seasons.

Pedigree suggests that he will need stiffer tests than this to be seen to any effect and looks a longer term project. Well held on his only start so far in testing conditions at Haydock and others makes more appeal.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: J M Quinlan| T: B Eckley
33/1
Has improved steadily with each run showing his best form over C&D last time when taking the runner up slot edged out by a fellow 33-1 shot. That form hasn't been tested but this looks a stronger event and he'll struggle to repeat that placing.

Aurello
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex
20/1
Newcomer from a yard with a good record in bumpers who is closely related to bumper winner Mozo and a half-sister to three other winners. Worth more than a second glance in the market given her connections with the jockey booking a positive.

Highland Wayt134
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Max Kendrick(5)| T: S Flook
200/1
Hooded for both her bumper starts so far she's shown next to nothing for a yard that is 0-19 in bumpers in the last five seasons. Hood now removed and a tongue-tie goes on but it may take a lot more for her to be of any interest.
Yard in top form but not renowned for their bumper runners; this one may buck the trend having run with a great deal of promise behind a useful rival on debut. Pulled clear with the winner (3rd already won since); can't be left out of the equation.

Forecasts

Balleticon (2/1), Frenchy Du Large (5/2), Catch The Swallows (5/1), Ifyoucanseemenow (6/1), El Kaldoun (8/1), Aurello (20/1), Timeforaspin (33/1), Jimmi Chew (100/1), Seymour Sox (100/1), Knocknagoshel (125/1), Battlebrave (200/1), Highland Way (200/1), Battletank (200/1)

15:55 Bangor - 8 January 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A competitive and what should be an informative bumper to end the card with El Kaldoun bidding to follow up under his penalty for the yard that won this last year and are exceeding their usual strike-rate in bumpers this year (also 11-41 in Bangor bumpers). He has to concede weight to what look likely to be some decent newcomers with Aurello from the Warren Greatrex barn looking the pick of that group; the yard have a 6-15 record here in bumpers. Balleticon has done very little wrong in this sphere and has to be respected but the suggestion is FRENCHY DU LARGE who really caught the eye on his debut at Warwick with that form already boosted by the win of the third.
  1. Frenchy Du Large
  2. Balleticon
  3. Aurello
