Came good at the third attempt in bumpers when successful at Fontwell in November. Third home On The Slopes a winner since to give the form a solid look, but this is a tough little race and he may need another step forward on hurdles debut.
2
Horse silk
20/1
Bred to want a bit further but was making a good fist of things when unseating at Taunton in December (not his fault, badly hampered two out) and looks a likely improver. Place chances here at worst.
3
Horse silk
33/1
Could be a useful recruit to hurdling having been rated in the 90's on the Flat at his peak, and was still running well on the A/W in November. One to watch in the market as support would make him interesting.
4
Horse silk
100/1
Two reasonable efforts in bumpers and two shockers, so hard to know what to expect on hurdles debut, but addition of a hood may help him settle better. Best watched here.
5
Horse silk
10/1
Good third at Taunton last time out (debatable whether he'd have beaten Colditz Castle, reopposes here) and given how hard he pulled, that can be marked up a bit. Hood goes on, which is no surprise, and a repeat of that gives him every chance.
6
Horse silk
200/1
Did little in three runs in 2017 to suggest he's up to winning this, and has a long absence to overcome too. No realistic chance.

Well beaten in five starts, three bumpers and two hurdles, and needs this for a handicap mark. Can only be watched until showing a bit more.

6/4
Runner-up in a Grade 3 chase at Auteuil makes him a clear form pick here, ran as if very much needing the run at Sandown on first start for this yard (in a Grade 2) in December and has to be looked at as a leading player here.
9
Horse silk
200/1
Unplaced in ten starts on the Flat for John Flint and exposed as moderate. Holds little realistic chance on hurdles debut for new trainer today.
10

200/1
Not completely disgraced at a huge price at Taunton last time, hinting at better to come, but this looks too tough and he may be one for handicaps later down the line.

Winston C27
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: N D Fehily| T: H Fry
2/1
Useful, if hard to win with, on the Flat for Michael Bell and current trainer, made a perfectly satisfactory hurdles debut at Huntingdon last month (fourth a winner since) and should improve. Looks one of the leading players if doing so.
12
Horse silk
25/1
Regressive on the Flat for some time and made plenty of minor mistakes on only try over hurdles so far. Has joined a new yard who often do well with these types but can only be watched today.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Bridget Andrews| T: D Skelton
50/1
Bumper winner back in 2017 and has shown a bit of ability in two hurdles starts. Needs this to get a handicap mark, where she will be of more interest.
14
Horse silk
200/1
Yet to beat a horse home in three starts (twice last, once pulled up) and can't possible be entertained as a likely winner.
15
Horse silk
200/1
0-14 under all codes, exposed as moderate and all things being equal, won't be breaking her duck at the 15th attempt today.
16
Horse silk
150/1
Wasn't up to much on the Flat but showed a bit of aptitude for hurdling when fifth on hurdles debut at Fontwell in November; however, soon reverted to type on latest start and can only be watched.

A big field but plenty of dead wood and not that many to consider. MY WAY has some good French form to his name and will surely come on for his Sandown outing where he tired late in the day. He can take this en route to better things. Winston C might prove the biggest danger after a nice introductory run at Huntingdon where he'll have learnt plenty. Le Ligerien and Colditz Castle can battle it out for the minor money.

  2. Winston C
  3. Colditz Castle
