1
Horse silk
11/1
C&D winner on debut in April (20/1); low-key on return to action at Kelso in November (2m, good); possesses previous racing experience on this Tapeta surface, so has probably been found another reasonable opportunity.
2
Horse silk
Zakharova268
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: Ross Chapman(3)| T: Laura Morgan| D
10/11
Impressive when scoring on debut at Musselburgh (2m, good to soft) in February and just about held her own in the Grade 2 mares' bumper at Aintree (12th of 20) subsequently; very solid chance against these rivals.
3
Horse silk
Kymatap1252
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Philip Armson(7)| T: Sean Conway
50/1
Switched to racing under rules after making a couple of starts in PTP's during the spring of 2018; plenty of the others should have far too much toe for this mare.
4
Horse silk
125/1
Inexpensive yearling (£2,200); started 100/1 when finishing a well beaten fifth of eight on debut at Sedgefield (2m1f, good) in October.
5
Horse silk
16/1
Second foal out of a modest sprinter (Falbrina). However, her dam was a half-sister to the 2m-2m7f hurdles winner Ameeq, so there are some potential positives based on pedigree alone; tongue-tied on debut.
7,000gns yearling; out-performed her 125/1 odds when finishing just under 8L third to Alright Sunshine (runner-up has won since) at Carlisle (1m6f, good) in November; solid 7lb claimer booked for the ride.
7
Horse silk
66/1
£800 yearling; first foal; dam was an unraced sister to the 1m winner Wrekin Sunset; wears a tongue-tie on debut (has had wind surgery); highly unlikely.

Forecasts

Zakharova (10/11), Paris Dixie (6/4), Summer Lightening (11/1), Bravantina (16/1), Kymata (50/1), Picture Your Dream (66/1), Spy Fi (125/1)

15:10 Newcastle - 5 January 2019 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Grantham trainer Laura Morgan is far from a regular visitor to Newcastle (0-5 over jumps since 2014) but her mare ZAKHAROVA is the standout form horse in this very winnable looking AW bumper. An impressive 4L scorer on debut at Musselburgh in February, she held her own in a much stronger race (Grade 2) at Aintree next time and she should have too much in the way of ability for the likes of Summer Lightening (a C&D winner) and the slowly improving Paris Dixie.
  1. Zakharova
  2. Summer Lightening
  3. Paris Dixie
