Dual 2m4f winner at Sedgefield over hurdles last season, both on soft ground. Handicapper seemed to have his measure more recently and pulled up last month on chase bow at Ayr.
Won a novice hurdles over 2m4½f at Market Rasen in the summer after both rivals exited the contest. Poor in a couple of Cheltenham outings since coming back in but this is a little less tricky on paper at least.
Promising bumper winner last year, run well in two decent novice hurdles so far and should have more to offer now sent into handicaps going up in distance, worth noting.
Only win came in a Worcester maiden hurdle last year, but he has some fair form to his name, including improved effort last time at Exeter (2m7f, good to soft) and should have a say now from 3lb lower.
Bit disappointing when last spotted in Stratford novice in May over slightly shorter trip, though remains in good hands and demands a market check at worst on return.
It has been a stop-start journey winning a 2m4f handicap here in April last year on soft ground off a mark 2lb higher. Poor on reappearance at Warwick, needs return here to bring about more.
Chase winner last winter at Huntingdon over 2m4f, though mostly disappointing stuff since. Doesn't appear especially well-treated reverting to hurdles for new handler after short break.
Doesn't take much racing but did win on comeback run at Southwell (2m4½f, good) in September. Poor both starts since, including 16 days ago here over 2m4f. Vulnerable as he old-boy in this line-up.
Forecasts
Volcano (5/2), Sizing Cusimano (3/1), Three Star General (9/2), Quick Pick (11/2), Flynnvincible (12/1), Silent Encore (14/1), Western Climate (14/1), Compadre (25/1), Discay (25/1), Classic Tune (33/1)
VOLCANO has smart bumper form on his CV and has also run into some fair sorts in two starts over timber to date. He makes his handicap debut up in distance and could have plenty to say for himself. Three Star General showed more at Exeter last time and can build on that while Sizing Cusimano will find this easier than this recent spins around Cheltenham in all probability. Flynnvincible has yet to deliver for Olly Murphy but will surely offer more before long.
