Goes well here and is at his best when there is some cut in the ground. Yet to win beyond 2m7f, so has a little to prove both in that respect and from this career-high mark, but much respected after a hurdles pipe-opener.
Admirable staying handicapper who has run plenty of good races here. Has to contend with a career-high mark, but would not be winning out of turn and should again give a good account.
Has proved very tricky to catch right in recent years, but ended a losing run at Sandown (3m, heavy), when 5lb lower. Well held in both completed starts since and therefore again has a bit to prove.
Goes well on a sound/fast surface. Back to form last time at Taunton (2m7f). when a 6L winner from 4lb lower. A repeat of that career-best would give him decent claims with conditions still to his liking.
Scored from this mark a year ago at Catterick (3m1f, good) and is well treated on his ½L third in the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby on Boxing Day. Has struggled in better company of late, but is not out of this. Stays 3m5f.
A small field, but no less competitive for that. Captain Redbeard and Vintage Clouds both go well here, but probably want slower ground to have their best chance, especially from such high marks, and preference is for BRAQUEUR D'OR, who relishes a sound surface and may still have more to offer. Delusionofgrandeur is back on a good mark, while Takingrisks can't be ruled out.
