Time To Reasonp17
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-9| J: David Egan| T: C Wallis| OR:  67
14/1
11-race AW maiden; lost his action when heavily eased over 7f here in May, and off the track for six months thereafter until reappearing at Windsor (6f) recently; risky.

Roland Rocks16

9/2
On a long losing sequence, with his sole win coming over 5f on debut in June 2017; not fully exposed on the AW (0-3) and placed, beaten 3L by Busby at Kempton (6f) latest.

6f maiden winner for Roger Varian at Lingfield in June 2017, but 0-5 for this trainer since being bought for 45,000gns in November 2017; handicap mark tumbling.

3/1
Beaten in excess of 2L when finishing third to subsequent winner Busby over C&D in September, and now races from a 4lb lower mark; difficult to argue that she's an improving filly, but she has won a couple of races (5f-6f).

Princess Keira50
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: F Norton| T: M Quinn| OR:  62| D
10/1
Off the mark at the 13th attempt when taking a 6f Yarmouth fillies handicap with more in hand than the winning ½L margin implies; 5lb higher in the weights, but her turn of foot could be an asset on the AW (0-1 previously).

Sparkalex49
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: R Havlin| T: C Allen| OR:  62
20/1
Lost her way since winning for this rider at Leicester (5f, good to firm) in July and has something to prove on artificial surfaces; met trouble in running from the rear (33/1) over C&D in September.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-2| J: George Wood| T: M R Bosley| OR:  60| CD
9/2
On an upward curve having won two of her last three starts, including at odds of 50/1 over C&D latest; 3lb higher tonight, so more is required, but this isn't the deepest of races.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-12| J: Ryan Tate| T: J M P Eustace| OR:  56| BF| D
6/1
Continuing to struggle in the main (although fared marginally better in a tongue-tie at Kempton latest); handicap mark on the slide; 0-7 on the AW, so needs the further application of cheekpieces to provide the missing sections of the puzzle.

Catapulth16
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-5| J: N Mackay| T: C Lines| OR:  49
40/1
Still to hit the target (17-race maiden) and tumbling in the weights as a result; hasn't beaten all that many rivals in three previous AW starts, so a major surprise if he's the solution.

Forecasts

Qallaab (11/4), Dreamboat Annie (3/1), Tundra (4/1), Catheadans Fury (9/2), Roland Rocks (9/2), Father Mckenzie (6/1), Princess Keira (10/1), Time To Reason (14/1), Sparkalex (20/1), Catapult (40/1)

20:15 Chelmsford City - 8 November 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Mick Appleby bought QALLAAB for £16,000 in September, and it's fairly notable that this gelding drops back in trip for handicap debut, especially bearing in mind that he's a half-brother to a couple of sprint winners, including the 6f Listed scorer Forthefirsttime. Therefore, in a fairly low-key divided Class 6 handicap, he's preferred to the more exposed but improving fillies Princess Keira and Catheadans Fury, with Dreamboat Annie another to consider for the minor placings.
  1. Qallaab
  2. Princess Keira
  3. Dreamboat Annie
