Newcomer who cost €30,000 as a three-year-old out of an unraced dam (half-sister to a bumper winner/hurdler On Raglan Road). Trainer 1-12 in bumpers this year and 10-71 in the past five seasons.
Dam was unplaced in bumpers/hurdles but is related to winners; has some good staying hurdlers on her side of the pedigree. From a top yard (in good form at the moment) so likely to go well on debut; 21% strike-rate in bumpers last five years.
Ran a fine race on his debut at Southwell in May and looked a winner at various stages before inexperience beat him. That run came on good ground and he'll be suited by some cut here and rates a leading prospect who can put his debut run to good use.

13/2
Heavy ground Irish point-to-point winner who cost €40,000 whose dam was also a winner in that sphere. Yard have a good record in bumpers overall (16% last five seasons) and 3-9 in last five seasons here in bumpers.

40/1
First bumper of the season for a yard that aren't quite showing the necessary sip at the moment. Won an Easingwold point-to-point in May on good to soft. Pedigree suggests he may need a bit further than this.

Horse silk
33/1
First run back from wind surgery having shown some promise in a spring bumper at Ludlow. This is a deeper contest though and given his pedigree he looks as though a stiffer test is required.

25/1
Half-brother to six French winner including a Listed placed chaser in Summerly. Cost €50,000 as a three-year-old and is reported by his trainer to have a good attitude to his work; yard have yet to have a bumper winner this season (0-12).

Failed to win in three attempts in Irish point-to-points and was a beaten favourite in his last two starts. Yard not really known for their bumper horses and this will be their first bumper runner of the year.

80/1
Trainer has a poor record in bumpers (0-57 in the last five years) and this Robin Des Pres gelding (twice placed in Irish point-to-points) looks unlikely to end that barren spell.

Our Bubba172
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: C Gethings| T: S Edmunds
14/1
Gained a win on his third start in an Irish point-to-point due to a disqualification but has joined a yard with a reasonable record in this sphere (8-55 in last five years). There are some bumper winners in the pedigree and not out of this.
Yard have been in good form of late (3-6 last 14 days) and this €80,000 purchase as a three-year-old has a appealing pedigree that contains some bumper winners. Yard are 3-9 in bumpers this season; looks one to note in the market.

The Wolf171
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: Adrian Heskin| T: W Greatrex| BF
28/1
Half-brother to seven winners including the top-class hurdler Gemix out of a dam who won over hurdles. Well backed on his bumper debut (13-8 favourite) he took a strong hold and failed to live up to expectations; should be capable of better.

Horse silk
125/1
Sixth foal by Librettist who is a half-brother to bumper winner for this yard Cabaret Girl who is hooded for his debut. Yard are 0-41 overall in the last five seasons over jumps and he would be a surprise winner.

Age: 4|  Weight: 10-5| J: S Bowen| T: H Fry
8/1
Yard yet to have a bumper this season (0-3) but they are always to be respected in this sphere (30-142; 21% in the last five seasons). This debutante is well related; half-sister to top-class chaser Sizing John; note in market.

Impressive winner of mares' point-to-point in Ireland she gets a good mention from her trainer in recent stable features. Has a decent pedigree that features winners and from a yard with a good record in bumpers this season and at this track.

16:15 Chepstow - 7 November 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Like the two maiden hurdles on the card contains plenty of contenders who will be worth siding with in the future with Silver Forever looking a likely sort on her first start for the Nicholls team that have such a good record in bumpers here. However the experience gained by BALLETICON on his debut might just tip the scales in his favour and he’s given the nod as the selection. Plenty of others appeal either due to their pedigree or the yard that they come from with Shang Tang, Archirondel and Chuffy Chufnell a trio of debutantes that you would expect to see winning if not today then in the near future in this discipline.
