Count Meribel205
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: M D Grant| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  137| CD
8/1
Makes his chase debut having developed into a useful novice hurdler last year; completed a hat-trick of novice wins at Ascot last year. Form tailed off after that in some stronger contests before being pulled up when last seen.
2
Horse silk
Jammin Masters192
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex| OR:  133
8/1
Has some point-to-point and Rules experience over fences in Ireland before a transfer to this stable/hurdles. Won 2-5 hurdles last year (both on heavy ground) and now back over fences on a quicker surface.
3
Horse silk
Knockrobint193
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  130| D
25/1
Winner on his point-to-point debut he's always looked as though he will make a chaser although this ground will be quicker than he has raced on before over hurdles. Did much too soon last time (pulled up) and needs to settle better; front-runner.
4
Horse silk
Cake de L'Islet269
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: R P McLernon| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  128
25/1
Had wind surgery before his disappointing Doncaster handicap run when last seen (3m trip too far) and better judged on his previous form. Only has one hurdles win to his name though and now makes his chase debut off a long absence.
5
Horse silk
Donna's Delight218
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Liam Quinlan(7)| T: A M Thomson| OR:  127| BF| C
18/1
Bumper and hurdles winner (successful on debut here) but proved vulnerable under a penalty after that in the same sphere. Now makes his chase debut but would make more appeal on slower ground.
6
Horse silk
Coningsby232
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: T Scudamore| T: T Lacey| OR:  127
9/1
Lightly-raced hurdler who was a point-to-point winner (on debut) although he failed to score in three races over hurdles. Now goes chasing for the first time back over a more suitable trip; this will be a quicker surface than he's faced before.
7
Horse silk
Grand Morningt204
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: D R Fox| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  127WS
12/1
Half-brother to smart chaser/hurdler Edwulf who has already shown useful form over hurdles completing a hat-trick in that discipline (all on heavy ground). Has had a breathing op since last seen; now makes chasing debut, interesting contender.
8
Horse silk
Scotchtown200
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  126| D
8/1
One of the more experienced over fences in the field (0-6) but has hardly impressed with his jumping so far (beaten at fairly short prices in his first five races). Outclassed when last seen this will suit better but jumping still concerns.
9
Horse silk
Al Shahirt1239
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  125| BF
2/1
Both wins in a bumper and over hurdles have come with cut in the ground and he's looks as though he will appreciate a good test. Pulled up in a competitive handicap hurdle last time (well backed); now makes chase debut in first-time tongue-tie.
10
Horse silk
Kamilp58
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-13| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: H Hogarth| OR:  124| D
40/1
First run for this yard having won on his final hurdles start in Ireland (left clear at the last; followed up to make a winning start over fences. Confirmed that form when last seen although his jumping was a little hit-and-miss; improvement needed.
11
Horse silk
Western Rulesp211
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-10| J: Craig Nichol| T: N G Richards| OR:  121| C
22/1
Has had plenty of experience (dual bumper winner and hurdles winner) with all his wins coming on heavy. Now makes his debut over fences off a 4lb higher mark than his win over hurdles; ground may be a little quick.
12
Horse silk
Risk And Rollp,t34
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-9| J: H Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  129| BF
17/2
Dual hurdles winner who was in heed of his first chasing experience at Newton Abbot on ground that looked a little quick for him (beaten in a match). Looks sure to do better but this will be a bigger test given the size of the field.
13
Horse silk
Bulls Head170
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-4| J: Danny Cook| T: M Todhunter| OR:  115| D
40/1
Much improved over hurdles last year landing a couple of small field handicaps (well backed on the first of them; stable debut). Couldn't quite match that form of higher marks subsequently and now goes chasing; ground a question mark.

13:30 Carlisle - 4 November 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Mister Whitaker who runs later on in the card took this last year before going onto Festival glory and there could be a couple of useful contenders amongst this interesting field. It’s one of the chase debutantes in GRAND MORNING that makes the most appeal given his pedigree and form over hurdles last year. Al Shahir is a similar sort having run well over hurdles last year (final run can be forgiven) and he comes from a stable that are positively brimming with winners this year. Knockrobin has always looked a chaser in the making and along with Coningsby and Risk And Roll presents a threat to the main duo highlighted above.
  1. Grand Morning
  2. Al Shahir
  3. Coningsby
