Beaten 4L when finishing fifth in a valuable Redcar handicap over 1m on penultimate start, but failed to beat a rival over 1m2f at York last time. Return to this trip will help, but others preferred.
Winner and placed twice in four AW starts earlier this year and returned from a break better than ever when winning a 1m handicap at Chelmsford earlier in the month. Must prove he can repeat the dose on turf debut now.
Improved last month to win handicaps at around 1m at Pontefract and Beverley. Has gone up over a stone for those wins, but clearly thriving, and hard to leave out of calculations.
Won over 1m2f at Pontefract in July, and has run well on numerous other occasions. Creditable sixth of 14 to Equitant at Chelmsford last time having done plenty in front, and capable of slipping his field if allowed too much rope.
Hit and miss this year, but at least as good as ever when winning at Brighton last time by 3½ lengths from Fleeting Freedom (visored first time). Rarely strings good efforts together, however, and just as likely to blow out now.
On a long losing run, and while he's run well to finish runner-up twice over 1m this season, he's followed both of those runs with lesser efforts, and isn't one for maximum faith as a result.
Won a novice at Carlisle in July, and better effort in handicaps since when 4¾L fourth of 7 to Rampant Lion in handicap at Hamilton last time. Had the run of things there, and improvement needed in this company.
Forecasts
Bobby K (3/1), Michele Strogoff (10/3), Detachment (11/2), Bravery (6/1), Storm Ahead (8/1), Blaze Of Hearts (8/1), Why We Dream (9/1)
DETACHMENT is thriving at present, and can defy the handicapper after winning with something to spare last time. Bobby K is a threat on AW, but does need to prove he's as effective on turf. Michele Strogoff rarely runs a bad race, and could be hard to catch if poaching a lead.
