Phantasmal
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-7| J: P Mathers| T: W Coltherd
28/1
Makes his belated debut having cost €150,000 as a two-year-old with winners in his pedigree. Faces a stiff task against all the three-year-olds here and can only be watched for now.

Two outings this year separated by a break of four months and although he shaped better the second time over 6f here it's stretching the imagination to see him winning this. Needs this run for a mark and a handicap career awaits.

Runner-up on both career starts so far with the second of those outings being the one that reads far better showing progress from his debut. Looks to be crying out for further than this 7f though; may once again find this trip on the short side.

Make Mep114
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Jason Hart| T: T D Easterby| OR:  69| BF
7/2
Has a long and growing string of placed efforts to his name having managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on his last three starts (runner-up each time). Hasn't done much wrong to be honest and must go close; cheekpieces on for first-time.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: J Fanning| T: P T Midgley| OR:  52
66/1
A modest maiden who has now had 10 tries to break this tag without success; tries 7f for the first time. Showed little last time and appears to face a tough task here with this trip likely to stretch his suspect stamina.

Godolphin cast-off who cost 90,000 guineas as a yearling but was picked up by current connections for just £1,500. They have had success with similar types but this one is probably best watched for now on debut.

Ran over 6f here on debut and achieved very little having been unfancied in the market and beaten fairly easily. Hard to construct a case for her on the back of that outing.

Broken Time122
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Phil Dennis(3)| T: N Wilson
100/1
Makes her turf debut having run twice so far on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton and Newcastle over 6f and 7f respectively. Hinted at ability on debut but failed to confirm that second time out; one for the longer term and handicaps.

Hula Girl24
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: G Lee| T: C Hills| OR:  64
10/1
Southern raider who appears to be regressing having shown some reasonable form earlier in her career. Tried at up to 7f this year she ought to be able to make her presence felt at this level bit is far from a solid option.

Kynance42
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Finley Marsh(3)| T: K A Ryan| OR:  73
7/4
Made a positive showing on her debut before running well second time on her AW debut although that race rather got away from her. Given a more positive ride in light of that last time at Kempton over 1m she once again came second; sound chance.

Horse silk
20/1
Just the two starts to her name separated by just over a year where she has looked green in both of them and lacking any experience; failed to match her debut last time. Ought to be capable of better but needs time yet to fulfil her potential.

Cheap purchase as a juvenile (£1,500) who has had to wait to make her debut. Half-sister to useful 1m winner Tea Blossom with a dam who won over 1m2f and was related to a smart sort in Vortex; may be worth a market check.

14:50 Redcar - 29 October 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not a particularly appealing contest as a betting medium with the majority of the principals having had already had a few chances. Kynance is the obvious choice in this having been positively ridden at Kempton last time over 1m and a similar ride could well see her go close. Glorious Jem is another contender although this 7f may well see him getting going too late and despite filling the runner-up slot on the last three occasions MAKE ME in first-time cheekpieces is given the vote. He’s done very little wrong in those three defeats and this return to maiden company could well be what he wants. Hula Girl is running out of chances now but note Sea The Sunrise and Broken Time for handicaps.
