Stepped up on Sandown debut when finishing a staying-on third in a 1m1½f novice event at Wolverhampton. Going the right way, but may find this opposition a bit tougher.
By Dubawi out of a half-sister to top-notch German performer Manduro, and half-brother to fairly useful 6f 2-y-o winner Romantic View. Needed the experience when sixth of nine on debut over 1m at Kempton and greater stamina test should suit.
Authorized half-brother to 1¾m winner Smart Champion out of a winning half-sister to useful 1¼m-1½m winner Gawdawpalin. Had Al Mikdam behind when runner-up over 1m1½f on debut at Wolverhampton and looks a major contender with improvement expected.
Son of Derby winner Pour Moi whose dam won over 1m2f as a two-year-old. Plenty of stamina in his pedigree and looks sure to get this trip, but will probably need the run on debut.
Only limited promise on both starts at Newmarket and Goodwood. Cost 210,000 gns as a yearling, however, and should be able to do better as he gains experience.
Forecasts
Say The Word (6/4), Al Mikdam (11/4), L'Un Deux Trois (5/1), Mondain (7/1), Valence (10/1), Zuba (20/1), Waterproof (20/1), Ginge N Tonic (100/1), Barsa Kelmes (100/1)
SAY THE WORD had Al Mikdam behind when runner-up on debut at Wolverhampton, looks sure to improve and is likely to be hard to beat in this company. L'un Deux Trois is getting his act together and may be able to chase him home, while it would be no surprise to see Mondain step up considerably on his debut display.
