Never out of the first three in 21 starts under Rules he returns from a break over a 4f shorter trip than he scored his biggest success when last seen at Kempton bidding defy a 6lb higher mark. Promising 10lb claimer used to negate that rise.
Winner of this race last year off the same mark he turned in a lack lustre effort when last seen in May. Looks to have something to prove overall but may well have benefitted from the break and yard good at rejuvenating their horses.
Useful hurdler who has made a better fist of chasing the second time around winning twice over the summer in novice company. Did suffer one reverse though in that period and doesn't look overly well handicapped on hurdles form.
Looks like he's made up into a better chaser than hurdler (won two handicaps around this time last year). Lightly-raced this year and failed to justify support when last seen (wind surgery since); back on last winning mark.
Previously with Paul Nicholls it took a fall to a career-low mark (plus a 7lb claimer) for him to score at Carlisle when last seen for this yard. Pushed back up 9lb for that win and minus the claimer in a higher grade he now faces a stiffer task.
Kept on improving and improving last season (won six handicaps) but has struggled over fences since his last win despite winning twice over hurdles. Below form in that sphere last time he has a little to prove in this company back over fences.
Bumper/hurdles winner for his former yard (Philip Hobbs) who scored (dead-heat) on his first try over fences (C&D) for this yard (appeared to idle). Has shaped well enough since off higher marks although disappointed last time in this grade at Perth.

A good class handicap with last year’s winner Ballybolley looking to get back on track off the same mark having had a rather disappointing time since then although his recent pause from action may well have refreshed him. C&D winner Royal Village needs to prove himself at this level and with some of the others looking to have a bit to find at the weights. Catamaran Du Seuil is very much one to carry on improving this year and he looks of interest although he might just need this and the wonderfully consistent MASTER DEE is given the vote. He has a touch of class and the 10lb that Connor Brace takes off he should maintain his of never finishing out of the first three under Rules.
