6/1
Dual winner last season when his best run was a fourth in the Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Competes off the same mark and has fair claims.

Mercenaire213
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-9| J: Lizzie Kelly(3)| T: Nick Williams| OR:  131
6/1
Decent effort when third to the high-class We Have A Dream in the Finale Juvenile Hurdle over C&D in January. Pulled up at the Cheltenham Festival, but should be revitalised after his summer break.
3
Horse silk
Ballywood231
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-8| J: Tom Cannon| T: A King| OR:  130
16/1
Dual winner in France, but only start for this stable saw him finish last of 10 in a hot novice hurdle at Kempton. Surely capable of better, but has it to prove.

Grand Sancyh213
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-3| J: H Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  125WS
11/2
Still a maiden over hurdles, but showed ability before pulling up in the Fred Winter Hurdle at Cheltenham when quietly fancied. Down 2lb and looks a likely contender if wind surgery has done the trick.

6/1
Several pieces of useful form last season, including when scoring by a wide margin at Uttoxeter. Warmed up for this with a run on the Flat at Chester last month and is worth noting for market support.

Nayati237
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-2| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| OR:  124| D
7/2
Back-to-back successes at Newbury and Ascot (fortunate winner) before a poor effort in a Market Rasen handicap. Not seen since February and is down 4lb. Looks a stronger contender than stable companion Ballywood.

9/1
Scoring for the second time over hurdles when defying odds of 20-1 at Plumpton last month. Has gone up 5lb and this is a step up in grade, but he has fitness on his side.

Ludlow winner in January and generally ran with credit thereafter. Returns from a summer holiday following wind surgery and in first-time blinkers. Interesting contender.

Forecasts

Nayati (7/2), Cubswin (7/2), Comrade Conrad (4/1), Grand Sancy (11/2), Padleyourowncanoe (6/1), Knight Destroyer (6/1), Mercenaire (6/1), Phoenix Dawn (9/1), Ballywood (16/1)

16:10 Chepstow - 13 October 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Padleyourowncanoe and Comrade Conrad command respect at the opposite end of the weights, while recent winner Phoenix Dawn has fitness on his side and Mercenaire may be capable of better than he has shown. Stable companions Ballywood and Nayati, Cubswin and Knight Destroyer will also have their supporters, but GRAND SANCY may be the answer. He promised more than he delivered last season, but has undergone a wind operation and lurks on a potentially-favourable mark.
  1. Grand Sancy
  2. Nayati
  3. Padleyourowncanoe
