Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| OR:  126| D
7/2
Off the mark at the third attempt over hurdles when easily justifying odds-on favouritism at Warwick in May. Sets a fair standard, but has to shoulder a penalty against some potentially-useful rivals.

Auld Sodh22
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: James Best| T: R Harris| OR:  105
33/1
Placed third in two of his six starts over hurdles. Clearly has his limitations and will do well to make in impact.
3

Demon Fou
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J Scott
80/1
French-bred gelding who fetched only €5,200 as a three-year-old. Only limited appeal on paper and best watched unless the market suggests otherwise.

Duc De Beauchene561
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: B J Geraghty| T: D Pipe
25/1
Decent second on bumper debut ar Ffos Las in March, last year, but failed to back it up two months later at Wetherby. Off the track since then, but stable can ready one for its hurdling debut after a break.

Pym183
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: N de Boinville| T: N J Henderson| D
11/10
Plenty of promise in bumpers, but has always been regarded as the sort to do better when hurdling. Runs in the colours of the mighty Altior, who won this race on his jumping debut in 2015.

66/1
Has hinted at ability in two races in novice/maiden company. Has his third start over timber and can go handicapping after this.
Point-to-point winner who was beaten a long way on his hurdling debut over C&D in April. Early days for him, but much more is needed if he is to figure.
9
Horse silk
Umndeni170
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: P Hobbs & J White| D
5/2
French-bred gelding who cost €175,000 as a three-year-old and made a good impression when beating a well-regarded sort on his debut in a bumper at Warwick in April. Of obvious interest on his hurdling bow.
Bumper winner for Christian Williams and was making his debut for this trainer when finishing down the field in the Cheltenham Festival version in March. Another to note on his first start over timber with stable going well.

Forecasts

Pym (11/10), Umndeni (5/2), Deyrann de Carjac (7/2), Volcano (9/1), Duc De Beauchene (25/1), Realms Of Fire (25/1), Auld Sod (33/1), The Boom Is Back (66/1), Some Can Dance (66/1), Demon Fou (80/1)

13:55 Chepstow - 13 October 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Deyrann de Carjac sets a decent standard, but may be facing a stern test conceding weight to one or two of these rivals. Volcano looks a likely type for his strong trainer/jockey combination, but the two which make most appeal are PYM and Umndeni. The latter impressed when winning a bumper on debut, but the selection has long been held in high regard and it is perhaps significant that he starts off in the same contest which the owner's Altior won in 2015.
  1. Pym
