C&D winner in July has remained in good form since and again showed a liking for the C&D latest when a close fifth of 20 here in a valuable handicap. This a drop in class and despite a welter-burden he is likely to take all the beating.

Not won in nine starts this season but several decent runs in there including close third at Chelmsford last time out. Raised 1lb for that but remains at a competitive mark so again capable of going well.

Won over this trip on Newmarket's July course penultimately but flopped next at Haydock where soft ground rather than a 4lb rise was probably the excuse. Conditions here likely to be more suitable again so not out of this.

Not won in ten starts this season, most of them at 1m lately. Decent second at Newmarket on soft ground in August but followed that with two ordinary sixths so overall others more appealing.

Dual 7f winner last season has just ran twice this year with a fair start at Doncaster before a lesser effort at Goodwood latest. Had a wind-op since that so some cause for optimism at least although equal amount of concerns.

Won three times in August over 1m, 1m½ and 1m1f. Handicapper seemed to catch up then but back to form latest when second at Newmarket over 1m1f. Same mark here but the trip is concerning given he's been over 1m plus of late.

2015 C&D winner last won at Southwell back in January. Some decent efforts since that but latest three unplaced efforts aren't the most encouraging so others make more appeal.

Forecasts

Cliffs Of Capri (9/4), Rum Runner (7/2), Gallipoli (4/1), Manton Grange (6/1), Daddies Girl (13/2), Majestic Moon (11/1), Intense Style (12/1), Red Charmer (20/1)

16:45 Ascot - 5 October 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

CLIFFS OF CAPRI has been in fine form lately and twice showed a liking for this C&D. He has to give weight away here but can pass the test and come out on top. Red Charmer has had a fine summer and again ran well latest so he is the biggest danger with a drop to 7f the only real concern. Gallipoli has had a frustrating season but is certainly capable off his current mark.
  1. Cliffs Of Capri
  2. Red Charmer
  3. Gallipoli
