Won easily on debut and backed that up when winning a Listed event on second start. Not quite as good on subsequent efforts but this is slightly easier than recent contests so would have place claims if bouncing back to his best.

Off the mark with a wide-margin success on handicap debut at Thirsk (5f, good to soft) three starts back. Not so good the last twice and has a bit to find with a a few of today's rivals on these terms.

Best piece of form by some way came at Epsom on soft ground. Has been running with credit in better races than this of late and with blinkers on first time, he's a major player down in grade and back on soft ground.

Winning for the second time when taking a nursery at Chester (5f, soft) last week. This is tougher all round but clearly going in the right direction and should be able to make an impact at this level.

Having won all three starts in minor company, showed improved form to finish second in the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton (6f, AW) last time. Drops back in trip here but has decent claims if backing that effort up here down in grade.

Had a busy time of things having had eight starts already this year and has largely run with with lots of credit. Good chance that the drop back in trip to 5f will suit but will need a career best to be winning this.

Ran a cracker to be second in the Group 3 Molecomb at Goodwood before not being beaten far in Listed company at Ripon last time. Back down in trip here and leading player once more if handling this ground.

£85,000 yearling; closely related to 6f-1m+ winner Supersta. Won well on debut before a fair effort in big sales race at York last time. That bare form needs improving on but still early days and not discounted.

Not disgraced when eighth of 11 behind Rumble Inthejungle in the Group 3 Molecomb at Goodood (behind Life Of Riley). Took her form to a new level when runner-up behind Well Done Fox at York last time and claims if that can be backed up here.

Winner of a handicap and a conditions event on her last two starts, form that needs vast improvement to be winning this. She is on the improve though and this may have been the plan for a while for the yard that won this race last year. Interesting.

Won very easily by 16L on second start at Pontefract (5f, good). Found Group 2 company a bit too hot last time and this is far less taxing. Should still be improvement to come for yard that have won this twice in the last seven years.

Off the mark at the second attempt at Ripon (5f, good) last time. Bare bones of that form needs vastly improving but interesting to see how she fares in the market to her stablemate Flawless Jewel.

Forecasts

Life of Riley (4/1), Vintage Brut (5/1), Junius Brutus (5/1), Kinks (7/1), Dave Dexter (8/1), Cosmic Law (8/1), Secret Venture (9/1), Golden Circle (12/1), Broken Spear (20/1), Flawless Jewel (22/1), Deia Glory (25/1), Diamonique (33/1)

The drop back in trip may well suit Life Of Riley here and he wouldn't have to improve much for a yard that have won this race twice in recent years. There is a chance this may go to one of the less-exposed types however and there should be more to come from Diamonique who has probably been aimed at this race for last years winning yard. Richard Fahey has a good record in the race having won in twice in the last seven attempts and he has strong claims with both Golden Circle and FLAWLESS JEWEL. The latter disappointed at York last time but that was in a Group 2 and she can bounce back to form here.
  1. Flawless Jewel
  2. Golden Circle
  3. Diamonique
