Age: 3|  Weight: 9-9| J: Connor Beasley| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  86
6/1
Enjoyed a strong autumn juvenile campaign in 2017, and back to her best in seeing off 17 others at Thirsk (1m, good to soft); raised 6lb, up 2f in trip (unknown), but no doubting that this is her time of year; trainer saddles three runners.

10/3
Remains on an upward curve despite climbing 16lb in the weights since April; game neck winner over this trip at Brighton recently (good to firm); raised 3lb; no ground concerns (handles soft).

5/1
Makes her handicap debut after decisively winning a 1m Ripon Novice (by an eased 3½L) last month. That race was her first start on a soft'ish' racing surface (good to soft), so strong possibility there's plenty more to come.

10/1
Returned to turf from a two-month absence when winning at Musselburgh (1m4f Class 5, good); that's encouraging given that she also hit the back of the net on her last two starts over C&D; raised 3lb; trainer saddles three runners.

Vera Drake17
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey| OR:  73
15/2
11-race maiden who has slipped in the weights following some largely uninspiring performances in the latter half of 2018; difficult to consider at present (especially with soft ground likely).

Ce La Vie33
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-10| J: David Probert| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  68
16/1
Not managed to win since her debut at Carlisle in October 2016 (7f, soft), and finished a couple of places behind Vera Drake at Ripon latest (1m2f, good); stamina doubts at 1m2f; trainer has far better chances with Che Bella and Maulesden May.

Bollin Joanp26
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  71| D
7/2
Has absolutely blossomed since early July (3,2,1,1,3,1), climbing a combined total of 16lb in the weights; 5lb higher than when making all at Redcar latest (1m2f, good); has won on good to soft (untested on softer).

Sarvi5
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-3| J: Jamie Gormley(3)| T: J S Goldie| OR:  66
7/1
Seven-race maiden who showed some minor promise for previous trainer Marco Botti; not overly enticing in three starts for Jim Goldie (1m4f-1m6f), but has dropped 9lb (combined) and is back in trip today (keen type); untested on soft ground.

Forecasts

Double Reflection (10/3), Bollin Joan (7/2), Agincourt (5/1), Che Bella (6/1), Sarvi (7/1), Vera Drake (15/2), Maulesden May (10/1), Ce La Vie (16/1)

16:10 Ayr - 20 September 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A number of in-form fillies in the line-up, with Bollin Joan the most progressive of all over the past couple of months, admittedly with Double Reflection making nigh equal giant strides (combined rise of 16lb) over the course of the entire Flat season. Che Bella thrives on soft ground during the autumn, and would've been the selection, but for this race being run over 1m2f. However, the unexposed handicap debutante AGINCOURT is preferred. She's likely worthy of her opening handicap mark of 78, and looks just the type to enjoy a successful late season campaign under the expert handling of her trainer David O'Meara.
  1. Agincourt
  2. Che Bella
  3. Double Reflection
