Dual Cambridgeshire winner, but yet to really threaten to make the most of a falling mark and winless in 16 starts since scoring over this trip at Doncaster in September 2015. AW record 2-7 but latest run in this grade suggests he has a lot to do.
His last two runs in this grade have brought a win (off this mark) and a short-head second. Appeared to be coming to hand last time and in form trainer applies blinkers.
landed a modest Lingfield maiden on return and harshly raised 7lb for that effort. No surprise to see him beaten on handicap debut and trainer tries to offset the imbalance by booking top claimer.
Enjoyed a busy and successful winter when racing extensively here, including three C&D wins. May need the first run back from a break and remains on quite a high mark
Leicester winner for Richard Hannon in 2017, and not disgraced after an absence for new yard at Lingfield in July. Not progressed from that, however, and easy enough to oppose in current form.
Made the most of a drop in trip and grade to score over C&D. The form did not look strong and more to do here off higher mark in much stronger company.
Forecasts
Manthoor (3/1), Global Art (3/1), Makaarim (7/2), Statuario (5/1), Glory Awaits (10/1), Samphire Coast (20/1), Fayez (25/1), Bronze Angel (25/1), Cainhoe Star (25/1), Algam (25/1)
Global Art arrives with fewer doubts than most about his wellbeing but he needs to progress considerably to defy a 7lb rise for beating a weaker field last time. Glory Awaits likes it here and Manthoor should be more competitive when allowing for his rider's allowance. However, MAKAARIM is taken to deliver for an in form yard. He has had little racing this season, but will be better for a recent pipe opener and has clear grounds to succeed given the strength of his Wolverhampton victory last year off an identical mark.
