Hot Contest18
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara
12/1
€58,000 foal; half-brother to six winners including the Italian winning sprinters Love Intrigue and Cool Contest; slowly away and met trouble in running when finishing eighth of 11 on debut at Thirsk (6f, good to soft).

(1)
Horse silk
7/2
£48,000 juvenile (£23,000 yearling); first foal of a 7f AW/turf winner (Alzanti); interesting to see how he fares in the market on debut in relation to his marginally more experienced stablemate Here's Rocco.
6
(13)
Horse silk
100/1
€10,000 yearling; shown modest form on both starts so far (5f-6f) and others are open to more improvement.

Horse silk
Nuboughh1
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: Callum Shepherd| T: C Hills
15/2
First foal of the Group-placed 6f juvenile winner Qawaasem (a half-sister to the useful 7f-1m winner Mukalal); hooded on debut for a trainer with a 27% strike-rate (8-30) at Newcastle.

(10)
Horse silk
33/1
42,000gns yearling; dam a French 7f winner; offered a little promise on debut at Haydock (6f) despite a tardy start, but finished last of nine under similar conditions at Pontefract thereafter and needs to bounce back.

(12)
Horse silk
Shallow Hal22
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: M Stainton| T: K R Burke
5/1
£30,000 juvenile; keeping on fifth of ten on his second start at Wolverhampton (6f) last month, and could sneak into the frame at a price at this stiffer track.
10
(14)
Horse silk
40/1
58,000gns yearling; closely related to the 6f AW winner Lady Atlas, but has looked short on pace so far (5f-6f AW), and is probably the type to fare better granted more time and experience.
11
(2)
Horse silk
20/1
€48,000 yearling; his dam was a 1m3f+ winner, so it's highly likely that he'll need further than this 6f trip ultimately; not shown enough (but consistent) in two 6f spins on turf.

(9)
Horse silk
Promote

£32,000 yearling; sixth foal; half-sister to two winners (7f-1m); possible contender on debut for a trainer who is 8-36 (22%) here on Tapeta since 2016.

(5)
Horse silk
Quickly Does It16
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: J Quinn| T: B Ellison
5/1
Half-sister to 7f Italian winner Domestic Hearth; started 50/1 on debut at Carlisle (6f, soft) last month but finished runner-up, beaten just over 2L by Gloves Lynch; stable in-form at present.
14
(4)
Horse silk
40/1
58,000gns yearling; sister to 5f-6f winner Sign Of The Kodiac; 20/1 on debut when finishing sixth of eight at Chelmsford (6f) in August.

17:10 Newcastle - 7 September 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not the kind of race for offering strong advice, and adopting more of a watching brief than anything else looks to be the safest way forward. Of the newcomers NUBOUGH and Promote are interesting, with the former (and selection) hailing from a decent family line and representing a trainer with a 27% strike-rate (8-30) at the track. Quickly Does It out-shone all reasonable market expectations on soft ground at Carlisle last month, and bids to show that was no fluke on a vastly different racing surface, whilst at a likely bigger price the slowly improving Shallow Hal could sneak a place at this more suitable galloping track.
  1. Nubough
  2. Promote
  3. Shallow Hal
