Controversially disqualified after passing post first at Newcastle in March, and far from disgraced when mid-field in the Chester Cup next time. Off since, though, and entitled to need this run at a trip short of his best.

Not won since 2016, but been plying his trade at Meydan more recently, and looked as good as ever when 1½L second of 6 to Saunter at Newmarket last time. Place claims again, but a little more required to end drought.

Progress has been marked, if uneven this year, but has won two of his last three in handicaps, both at Newmarket. Those successes have come over 1¾m, though, and vulnerable dropped back in trip off career-high mark.

Drew a blank last year but still showed useful form in defeat, and shaped well on sole start this year at York in May, hanging left when mounting his challenge. Break since a mild concern, but should do better.

Big, scopey gelding who has taken time to flourish, but improving rapidly at present, and comes here after a pair of impressive wins at Kempton. Ran well over C&D on return, and looks the one to beat with further progress on the cards.

Winner earlier in the campaign for this rider, and been running well in defeat from his revised handicap mark; tends to be vulnerable to less-exposed rivals, but rider's claim brings him into calculations, and unlikely to be disgraced.

Both wins last season came over 2m at Kempton for Roger Charlton, and raced only once (in January) for Kristin Stubbs. Has changed trainers again, and goes without usual blinkers on return from absence here.

Just 1lb higher than when winning at Musselburgh in June, but below that form in four subsequent outings, and latest effort was particularly lacklustre.

Not long with current yard, and better than ever when taking 5-runner event at Yarmouth last time by 3¾L from Lunar Deity. Had the run of the race there, though, and in much deeper water here.

Forecasts

Huge Future (5/2), Temple Church (7/2), Magellan (7/2), Busy Street (10/1), Mukhayyam (10/1), Star Of The East (10/1), Stargazer (14/1), Dance King (33/1), Clowance One (40/1)

16:40 Haydock - 6 September 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

The strapping MAGELLAN is a horse going places, and the return to turf should not detract from his hat-trick claims. Mukhayyam is reunited with Robert Dodsworth for the first time since the pair were successful at York in June, ans that can help him remain competitive despite a stiffish mark. Temple Church has been off since a promising return at York in May, but is respected from his reduced mark.
