Lope De Vega colt holds a Beresford Stakes entry and was well backed in a 7f maiden here last week but he could never get involved after a slow start. Surely capable of better and suspect we will see a very different performance today.

Newcomer by Tough As Nails out of a dam placed at 7f-1m and over hurdles. Yard two from eight with two-year-olds so not ruled out completely and market support would be notable.

1,300.000gns son of Galileo out of a half sister to Oaks winner Sagamix. Full-brother to Oaks second Secret Gesture and Group Three winner Sir Isaac Newton. Exceptional pedigree but stable third string according to jockey bookings.

Dark Angel colt ran in same maiden as Aced It here last weekend over 7f and like that rival was supported but failed to deliver. Surely capable of better but behind the John Oxx horse who looked more likely to improve.

€18,000 yearling by St Leger and Gold Cup winner Leading Light out of a 6f winner at two. Likely to want middle distances judged by his first season sire although worth watching with stable having a fine season with two-year-olds.
€225,000 yearling by Sea The Stars out of a dam who win over 6f and 1m and who is half-sister to two Group winners. Trainer knows the time of day with two-year-olds and holds a Beresford entry so expecting a bold show.

Full-brother to Derby winner Ruler Of The World wasn't knocked about on debut here over 7f where he kept on nicely into fifth. Sure to appreciate further and progress as stable's two-year-olds always do so very much respected here.

€140,000 son of Australia shaped well on debut at Leopardstown despite a slow start eventually finishing third (Sydney Opera House second) beaten 6½L. Will hope to close the gap with that rival but reversal less than likely.

Easy to back last week in a C&D maiden and only beat one home after a slow start. Hopefully can improve for the experience but hard to see him playing an important role here.

33/1 chance in same maiden as Aced It and Kinch here last week and only beat one home in that 23-runner event. Hopefully benefit for the run but hard to see him involved today.

Half-brother to Melbourne cup winner Rekindling ran a promising race when fourth here over 7f before beaten at odds-on latest at Leopardstown (1m) behind a potential Derby horse making it's debut. Well clear of the rest however and big chance here.

Newcomer by Acclamation is full-brother to a 5f and 6f winner out of a 1m2f winning dam. Found a particularly hot maiden to start off here.

Newcomer by Oasis Dream is half-brother to two winners in smart jumper Timiyan and 1m4f winner Timikar. Bred for middle distances and probably need this first run for experience.

Forecasts

Sydney Opera House (5/4), Norway (7/2), Mr Secretary (8/1), Japan (9/1), Patrick Sarsfield (10/1), Aced It (11/1), Tinandali (16/1), Kinch (20/1), Lightsider (50/1), Ideal Pal (50/1), Pearl Warrior (66/1), These Days (66/1), Puma Strike (100/1)

13:10 Curragh - 1 September 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This looks a well-above average maiden and Aidan O'Brien holds a very strong hand with three runners headed by SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE who bumped into a potentially very high class colt of Kevin Prendergast's at Leopardstown last time out. O'Brien won this with subsequent 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior last year who was making his debut and although apparently third string on jockey bookings Japan could well be involved here first time up with this colt already in the market for next year's Derby. Norway, a brother to Derby winner Ruler Of The World completes a very strong trio for Ballydoyle and he ran with plenty of promise here on debut.
  1. Sydney Opera House
  2. Japan
  3. Norway
