Improved to win at Ayr (6f, good to firm) last time, showing a good attitude when pressed. Now carries a penalty. Has to prove he handles cut, but if so he has claims.

12-1 and ran green on debut. Can come on for both that run and this extra furlong.

Horse silk
50/1
Well beaten in both starts over 7f so far. Drop in trip might help, but others readily preferred.
4

Horse silk
33/1
33-1 drifter who failed to land a blow on debut over this trip at Thirsk. Can only watch this time.

Half-brother to winners Mattmu (6f, inc Group 2 at two), Penny Garcia (6f-6¾f, inc at two) and Rose Eclair (5f-7f). Dam 5f-6f winner (inc at two). Eyecatching pedigree, but can probably come on for this debut.

Out of a 1m½f-1m4f (inc AW at two) winning half-sister to 7¾f-1m3f Flat (and hurdle/chase) winner River Logic. Should do better over further in time. Watch on debut.

Improved on modest debut run, though still well held at Redcar latest. Likely to make more appeal when he has a mark to work with in nurseries.

Just touched off close home in an improved effort at Beverley last time. Can find more improvement over this longer trip. Enters calculations.

100/1
£2,000 yearling. Dam unplaced 7f-1m2f, closely-related to Group-placed GB 6f juvenile/US 1m½f winner Bicoatal. Stable juveniles 4% over five seasons, so probably one to watch on debut.

Suppressor14
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-2| J: S A Gray| T: R M Beckett
7/2
Improved for his first run when narrowly held at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) last time. Makes turf debut today. Has to prove that he handles cut and if so, he can go close.
€60,000 yearling. Full-brother to 7f AW juvenile winner Room To Roam, half-brother to 1m2f winner Malangen. Dam unplaced 7f-1m4f. Stable two-year-olds 5% over past five seasons. Watching brief this time.

Scored at Newcastle (6f, Tapeta) on debut, three weeks ago. Carries 3lb penalty for that success in a weaker race, so more needed here.

Rapture14
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey
5/2
Stepped up on her debut when beaten 2L at Beverley (5f, good to firm) last time. Longer trip should be a positive here. Has it to prove on soft, but claims if she can act on it.

Forecasts

Rapture (5/2), Suppressor (7/2), Kolossus (5/1), Gale Force Maya (11/2), Northernpowerhouse (7/1), Alotabottle (12/1), Grimsdyke (25/1), Golden Parade (33/1), Jackamundo (40/1), Commander Solo (50/1), Treasured Company (50/1), Highwaygrey (80/1), Our Rodney (100/1)

14:40 Carlisle - 30 August 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Several interesting contenders here, none more so than turf newcomer SUPPRESSOR, who improved for his debut when scoring last time. His dam handled soft ground, so there is hope that he can emulate that and if so, he could prove good enough. Rapture looks a big potential danger, though she too steps into the unknown with regard to the going. The Michael Dods-trained pair Kolossus and Gale Force Maya will find things tougher under their penalties, but neither is taken on lightly. Grimsdyke looks the most interesting newcomer.
  1. Suppressor
  2. Rapture
  3. Kolossus
