Just two wins for Andrew Balding and yet to add to that for current stable after six starts. Back to form on latest run when upped to this trip and should be competitive with more experienced rider taking over from an apprentice.

Back to same mark as when prevailing over the C&D in April but four of his five wins have come on either the first or second start of a campaign and remains out of form on his last three runs.

Has yet to show a liking for this course and finished down the field in this last year off more favourable terms. Good win at York two runs back but looks high in the weights at present.

Racing consistently without winning this year and remains on a competitive mark on old form. However concern that he finished well beaten in this last year and in the 2016 Great St Wilfrid.

Raised 5lb for back to form win at York but ran well on only previous run over this C&D off 1lb higher. Needs cut in the ground to be at his best so any rain would be appreciated but looks a leading contender.

Has returned back to his last winning mark but concern that he's much better at the minimum trip and this step up has to raise a question. Well beaten on all three previous visits to this track.

Has dropped to a fair mark having finished a neck second in this last year off 5lb higher. Didn't seem to take to cheekpieces last start and this likely easier surface should suit. Can be competitive again but hasn't won since 2015.

Has won four times this year and is unbeaten in two starts over this C&D. Drying conditions would be in his favour and although this requires another step forward off this mark, it would be no surprise to see him competitive again.

Had a good 2016 which included three wins but not in anywhere near the same form this campaign. Has dropped to 7lb lower than last win but needs to bounce back in a tough race.

Finished ninth in this in 2016 and has dropped to a very attractive turf mark following a decent run at Goodwood. Concern that all seven career wins have come on the AW but would be no surprise to see him go well.

Is dropping down in the handicap but yet to add to his opening two wins. Can have a problem at the start and others preferred on recent form.

Didn't get a clear run when ninth in this last year and followed up with a C&D success. Had dropped to a really favourable mark when winning at Haydock last time and although up 4lb remains well handicapped. Looks a leading contender.

Finished down the field in this in 2016 and although yet to win for his new yard was back to form when down in grade at Beverley. Suited by this extra furlong but this is a much tougher assignment.

Won a Thirsk seller to add to his win in maiden company but held in two handicaps since and this looks a very tough task. Looks the least likely of his trainer's four runners.

14:05 Ripon - 18 August 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A typically open renewal of this consolation race where Quick Look will be popular following his latest success, however he is ground dependent and much will revolve around things not drying out any more. HEE HAW didn't get a clear passage in this last year and that is always a concern in a field this size with his style of racing, however he looks one of the best handicapped runners in this field off the back of a good win. It would be some performance for Holiday Magic to open his turf account in a race of this nature but he can be competitive as should Red Pike, who is on a long losing streak but went close in this last year. Dark Shot and Mr Wagyu are others to note.
