Homebred Kingman half-brother to 2-y-o 9.5f winner City of Ideas and 2-y-o 1m winner Mary Anne Evans, out of Lancashire Oaks winner Gertrude Bell. Folded tamely after making running on debut here last week, but surely better than he looked there.

13/8
Closely related to 1½m-2m winner Leoncavallo, out of a winning half-sister to high-class performers Dubai Destination and Librettist. Yard has excellent 25-65 record with juveniles here since beginning of last season.

Imposing colt who pulled too hard when third to Calyx here on debut in June, but still shaped really well, and is the type to show above-average improvement now. Yard finding form, and had a pair of juvenile winners here last week.

Kodiac half-brother to 5f-1m winner Ejbaar and 6f winner Mutabaahy, and makes some appeal on pedigree, but yard's newcomers invariably need experience, and he looks his owner's second string here.

Stepped up on debut effort when finishing 5L seventh of 11 to Goldino Bello over C&D last month, but failed to confirm that improvement since, and looks one for nurseries at a more modest level.

Lope de Vega half-brother to useful sprint winner Mrs Gallagher, and cost 30,000 gns. Tongue tied for debut, which sets alarm bells ringing, but jockey booking is encouraging, and market will yield further clues.

Horse silk
40/1
Cheap purchase who showed more than on debut when 5L seventh of 10 to Buckingham in novice at Chelmsford last time. Plenty more needed to make an impact here, however.

14/1
Slade Power half-sister to a couple of useful winners at up to 1m. Showed only greenness on debut at Goodwood recently, and while she will improve, she probably requires more time.

Forecasts

Khaadem (11/8), Aquanura (13/8), Albert Finney (7/1), Parliament House (14/1), Mawsool (16/1), Tone The Barone (16/1), Sandridge Lad (33/1), Whenapoet (40/1)

14:10 Newmarket - 18 August 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

KHAADEM faced a stiff task against Calyx here on his racecourse bow, but ended up shaping really well, and will take the beating as long as he can settle better. Aquanura appeals most of the newcomers given his pedigree and his trainer's record in similar races, although Albert Finney must be better than he showed here last week, and isn't one to give up on based on that disappointing debut.
  1. Khaadem
  2. Aquanura
  3. Albert Finney
