Winner of a Group 3 contest over 1m at Haydock in 2016, and ran to a similar level on all four starts last season for William Haggas. Returns from an absence for new yard, but can go well fresh, so not discounted.
Reliable performer who has won a handicap at Meydan and a Listed race at Chester this year over 7f. Stiff task in valuable handicap at Ascot last time, but needs his very best form to figure at this level.
Often highly tried since scoring on debut, and got back to winning ways in a minor event at Chantilly last time. That form needs improving upon, but yard's raiders always respected on British soil, and he's one to bear in mind.
Often shapes better than the bare result, and again left with plenty to do when sixth of 15 to Tigre du Terre at Sandown on penultimate start. Met trouble in Betfred Mile at Goodwood last time, and capable of a shock if everything clicked here.
Beaten a nose by Lightning Spear in Celebration Mile at Goodwood a year ago, and would go close if repeating that effort, but he's disappointed on all three subsequent starts, and easy enough to oppose on recent evidence.
Lost his unbeaten record in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket but still ran a career best in defeat. Bounced back from a lesser effort at the Curragh when close third in Group 2 at York last time, and has leading claims here.

There's a suspicion the return to the mile should see ELARQAM to best effect and he should appreciate another drop in class here after a respectable effort in a Group 2 at York last time. South Seas shouldn't be ruled out after some eye-catching efforts in handicap company and the gelding won in Group 3 class at Sandown last year. Plumatic could be the main danger and Andre Fabre wouldn't send one over for this without thinking his colt could run a big race.
