Course winner who has been gelded since his last run. Does not have to find much to be a factor and he looks a better sort on this surface.

Shaped much better last time than on stable debut. Having first AW run for a stable with a 4-11 record here with their older horses.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-11| J: Callum Shepherd| T: S Kirk| OR:  86| C
5/1
Course winner with strong claims on his juvenile form but his plunging mark reflects his recent efforts. Drawn on the wrong side at Newmarket last time and may do better now switching back to an artificial surface. Worth a market check.

Equitation91
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-10| J: F Norton| T: R Varian| OR:  81| BF| D
6/4
Lightly raced gelding, related to two AW winners, who beat Stanhope more cosily than the winning margin suggested at Yarmouth. Beaten favourite on return, but a lot of the yard's horses have needed a run and he is dropped in class for AW debut.

Made all to score on seasonal return as he did last year. The handicapper took charge thereafter and possible he has done so again by raising him 9lb.

Course winner who shaped well from a poor draw here last time. Given some help by the handicapper and looks interesting with cheekpieces back on.

Distant ninth of ten on return following a gelding operation and the application of blinkers. Sold thereafter for €18,000 and has his first run for new connections.

Made all to score here in lower grade on third start for this trainer. Deliberately kept away from her rivals in the home straight that day. Therefore she needs to shake off the attentions of fellow pacemaker Fantasy Keeper to have any chance.

Top Boyv29
Age: 8|  Weight: 8-13| J: P Mathers| T: D Shaw| OR:  70| C
50/1
Has won here three times but his record over this trip is 0-9. He looked a bit unlucky last time and the handicapper has given him a chance. Should have little difficulty staying this far and he should get the strong gallop he desires.

Forecasts

Equitation (6/4), Music Society (5/1), Dark Side Dream (6/1), Thammin (7/1), Fantasy Keeper (7/1), Misty Spirit (8/1), Stanhope (12/1), U S S Missouri (33/1), Top Boy (50/1)

13:40 Chelmsford City - 4 August 2018 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Top Boy makes each-way appeal having been backed last time when meeting trouble and then being dropped to a career low mark. Recent winners Fantasy Keeper and Misty Spirit are set to take each other on up front and neither have been done any favours by the handicapper. Thammin has produced his best form on this surface and a gelding operation may produce some improvement, whilst Stanhope and EQUITATION make their AW debuts for top yards. The selection is related to AW winners and with the benefit of a run in May, plus the stable's horses looking in better shape now, he can take advantage of a drop in class.
